It's not the receivers job to note product that's not theirs or not in the bills.
If it's a multi stop load, do you think they confirm the pallets they're leaving belongs elsewhere? No. They just confirm they got what they wanted and the bills show the correct amounts.
Only damages and shortages generally get marked. Or case overages that are comingled in the the same pallet they have to breakdown to remove because they didn't order them.
It's the drivers job to confirm the trailer is ready for the next load. That includes looking inside, sweeping, or washout, etc.
Also, never let someone else close and latch your doors. It's your responsibility to make sure your truck is safe to go down the road. The risk of an unlatched door is not worth it.
Secondly, if your truck doesn't have an air suspension guage you should get one. And you'd know there's something still in the trailer. Empty, my truck sits level at 25psi. I've had receivers sit just a few cases on my trailer and my guage goes just above the 25psi line and I know there's something left behind.
Now since it's SLC, the customer gets to pay for the new drop off, or okays you pitching it in a dumpster. But waiting that long after delivery is going to be an issue. When you let the customer or broker know the load is delivered and empty, they're not expecting a problem later. I'd be pissed, too.
Receiver forgot 1 pallet, clean bills

What I would have done depended on my relationship with the broker or receiver. If I was treated good the whole time I would call them up let them know. But if I got a #### rate for the load, pestered everyday on my location, and then given the hurry up and wait at the receiver you #### well know I’m going to find another warehouse and offer them a real nice price.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
I've hauled a bunch of hazmat loads while pulling reefers.
Some reefer outfits "require" drivers to have hazmat endorsement; some "prefer" they do, and some will pay for hazmat if a driver doesn't have it..SoulScream84 and LoSt_AgAiN Thank this. -
