That may be the case in some aspects, but not all. For example, Peoplenet definitely tracks HOS accurately. You can see your real HOS on the status screen when the truck is not moving. As soon as you start to move though, the parked screen changes to the moving screen, and THAT data is controlled by Crete. Crete chooses what fields are displayed on that screen, and how it is calculated. The same thing is happening with recap hours calculations. Peoplenet never gives me the recap hours that Crete claims I will be getting back, because I do not run recaps, and the Crete macros ignore that fact.

I had contemplated returning to Crete. I made decent bucks when I was there. But the horror stories I’ve heard about Peoplenet (from Crete drivers and those of other companies) caused me to remove them from my list.

They aren't as bad as all of the complaining. I haven't had any issues with mine in months. As I'm sure you know, drivers don't like change, and like to complain. I wish they would make the screen we see when driving less confusing, but it's really not that bad.

I agree with everything you wrote.

We had the same problems in the mid 2000's at Crete. I worked there when it was still a good place to work. After the unfortunate accident in FL which killed several people, this self-insured company lost their mind and never quite recovered.

Despite the laundry list of annoying things in this thread, I would still recommend Crete / Shaffer as a company to work for.

These issues are only annoying, and they cost Crete a lot more lost income than any single driver is impacted.

You must resign your current position immediately! And then apply to be President an CEO of Crete. Caution: Be prepared to be transported by ambulance to a nearby Mental Institution, with a police escort. Putting your driver number (if it's real) in your post, was probably a good first step in that direction!!!

Heh. Nope. I had enough of office politics and type A personality conflicts when I worked for NCR for 8 years.

Unsurprisingly, they had a lot of the same problems there as Crete does here. Every department is it's own little island, and there aren't any individuals whose job is specifically to work between departments to identify and determine how to resolve issues that no departments want to lay claim to, or devote time and effort into fixing. Everyone points at someone else when a problem is identified, making excuses at to why it isn't their responsibility to fix it.

I don't work for Crete but I have a question for you. If the PeopleNet can accurately track your HOS, can they not show the company exactly how many miles you have driven? Does Crete pay off of those miles or are you short changed?

The Peoplenet device can track miles, yes. Crete pays by Rand McNally miles, which is basically supposed to be the shortest legal route from the shipper to the receiver. Normally the paid miles are within a few miles of actual drive miles.

Your paid off of the practical miles (Rand McNally I believe) not the miles you actually drive. The miles you will be paid for is sent with the load assignment...yes there miles are usually shorter.
