Has anyone bought from SFI? They are connecting me with a finance guy from Capital Pacific Funding. Has anyone had experience with this company?

Let me go out on a whim here and say. They probably want $40k for a truck with close to 500k? If so run you can get these trucks all day for 20K

I don’t know what kind of truck your needing, but the ex tanker trucks will be lower miles, when I drove there they sold mine with 285k miles for $26k Freightliner. Dd13 10 speed manual

I had a response not show up. That's weird.

@TruckerPete1990 its got 350k and they're asking a little over $60k for it. Not a terrible deal, even the salesman on the phone said he could work on the price. Its a custom rig not a SNI Cascadia. I'm considering a trip to see it up close to make a decision.

It seems to me there are many ways to buy a truck and every one fits the mindset of someone as the right thing to do. Finding out what is right for you takes some time. While I am considering the options I am thinking of variables that aren't obvious at first like where am I getting the truck from and what is the reputation of that person/dealer. What is the history of the truck, not just the current condition. Can I get in touch with previous operators of the machine to get personal experiences?
I drive a brand new truck now for a company and its already had issues inside 40k miles, one transmission alert that has happen since the beginning so new trucks have issues, even though the issues I am experiencing are covered by warranty that doesn't mean its free.
Older trucks like pre-emissions 379, which I would love to have are risky in their own ways though simple they are aging quickly now. My 06 refurb I drove for two years was great until things started going just by age to the point I didn't feel comfortable taking it out over the road anymore.
A truck like the one I am considering will most likely have DEF issues but maybe it already has been through those, I don't know yet. This is where I consider the source important. Buying from a large company like SFI means paper trails may be stronger than a mom-n-pop dealer. Plus if they warranty it they're network is nationwide. I'm just thinking this truck is a first truck, not a long term solution but a kicking off point. I can't take months and months scouring the country finding that diamond in the sand so what level am I willing to work with? That is the question.

Just remember that finance companies make money on the interest. Banks do too, but a bank is not going to rape you on interest like some of these finance companies will try to do.

Any warranties they offer you can usually be bought cheaper direct or through another source.

Dyno the truck before you buy it. And check it out good. 60k is a lot of cheese. He said they can work on the price because it's jacked up quite a bit. Negotiate HARD on that price. If they sense you're going to walk, they'll come down closer to where you want to be.

    Finance company
When the story has finance company in it , it is not a good story and ends badly.

My advice is, no matter who you're buying a truck from, its always going to be a pig in a poke. No one is going to warranty anything past the gate, unless you buy an extended warranty. And that's total BS. Ask @Farmerbob1.

So, that said, I'd be looking at engine, transmission, and miles.
That's what I did, and I came out alright.

Right now is a buyer's market. Take your time and choose wisely.

Local banks are the way to go. Damlier wants 15.5%. Any local bank can beat that.

    Good luck

How about manufacturers warranty? I'm looking at the the "System 1 Confidence and aftertreatment waaranty" its 2 years, 200k miles but the price tag is incredible at $8600.

    Once again, ask @Farmerbob1 .
My impression is that at the end of the day, he spent more time in lost time, more money in deductibles, more money in hotel rooms and food, than he ever would have spent in getting his truck fixed off his hip.

    Here's the bottom line:
Dealerships DO NOT want your warranty business. And they will make you pay for the misjudgment.
    Cash is king.
    Warranties, go to the back.
