Often times my company will give me a load that was already due before I even accepted the load lol.

Other times they'll try to get me to run same day loads that make me stretch my 11 hr drive time to the absolute max .
One of these idiotic same day loads I barely made it to consignee at midnight in Atlanta. 20 min left on my clock . Bobtail to nearest truck stop . No you can not park here. 10 min left on my clock arrive at another truck stop. Sir this parking is reserved. Drive around the building and park on the side of it and hope security don't find me in 10 hrs or less.

    #### forced hurried dispatch man. I do the best I can with loads within reason and I don't let them rush me anymore. Not risking HOS violations from DMs not understanding the difference between driving a route and mapping it out on Google.

My dispatcher calculates everything at 50 miles per hour, even though we can roll at 65. It keeps things easy. As long as they keep you moving, and booking you at 50mph, you can still make plenty of money with some downtime when you finally arrive.

Take a walk, watch a movie, or just sit and watch truck stop antics...

Just do the best you can.
Last load with Appointment was last week.
I loaded at 1345, delivery appt was 1400 that same day, 350 miles away.
Was supposed to have been loaded at 0700 the day before, but I got asked to do it at noon, and DH’ed 80 miles to get it.
Receiver was just glad to get it.

Same here, I average 2800-3000/wk. I'm constantly passed by other people from my company, but that's fine as I'm making my fuel bonus weekly. I also have time to get out and stay reasonably fit.

    TravR1 Thanks this.

What company do you drive for? From the looks of it, you work for a decent company, with a decent dispatcher.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

I'm with Wilson Logistics on their OTR side. Most of my freight is PRIME, but overall I'm happy as my dispatcher keeps me primarily in the western states. There's higher pay out there, I won't pretend they're the best paying fleet around, but I've been very satisfied with the people I've worked with overall.

Are you solo or team? How do you manage that high of pay as OTR?

Not saying it isn't possible. I can occasionally get up that high driving team. But it doesn't happen every week.
