    Hello,
I developed a new anti theft device for cars and trucks.
While for cars it is easy to implement, i read in a forum that you can jump start a starter.
How to jumpstart a starter if there is no crank
I am an electronic engineer, and i do not know too much about cars or trucks.
I am curious to know, what you can disable in a car or truck in such way that will be imposibile to steal it.
My device, has in the end a relay with Normal Open contacts.
My initial idea was to pass the wire from ignition relay through a second relay which is controlled by my electronic circuit.
But if you can the jump-start the starter, it looks like my device it is not a perfect solution.
I want to get some suggestions.
    Thank you

    OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.

People have been trying to do this since cars were made.

there is no way to stop someone from stealing a car or truck, if they want it they will find a way.

The starter can crank the engine all day, but it’s not going to start as long as the ignition side is dead. Don’t worry about the starter, worry about the ignition side of the electrical harness for the engine. If you can control the ignition, you can control the whole vehicle. I’m not much in the way of knowledge for newer computer operated cars, but we all know it needs power to the computer to run.....

I have a toggle switch hidden that interrupts ignition power.

An ECM power wire would work too.

No spark plugs in a diesel. I suppose the fuel pump might be on a different circuit though.

He never said anything about spark plugs. Trucks have ignition circuits too. They control the ECM/injectors on an electronic engine.

Hi Timin770, can you suggest some so i can see how it was done. My electronics can do it, but my week point is WHERE or WHAT to interrupt ?
