How to keep rolling at an affordable rate.

It is kind of weird at this time of year, that’s why I just took a week off and went over truck and trailer.

Sometimes brokers won’t give, that’s when you gotta stand firm, but sometimes you’ll have to take a decent one to get you out to a better place, but I won’t do it for free, some do it to cover fuel.

You’ll have to have your numbers and stick with a minimum that won’t go any lower than, and stick to it, I do pay by ton, I run out for no less than $35/ton, back home I may drop it to 28/ton if it will take me home and there is absolutely nothing.
But I aim for making $700/day minimum while out on road

 

I think in most areas the wintertime things are slow.

If you run load board Freight as far as staying busy you need to watch the load board like a hawk. You need to pounce on loads as fast as you can and maybe it will take you all day to find that load. Sometimes it can be quite an adventure. Here's a good read for you:

CA to TX mast have paid good for the last few months. It paid good anywhere. It is an easy ride too. That's very easy to get accustomed to so when they stop to pay that well, things look sad.

 

Need to look at money not miles, with my reefer I shoot for 4-5k a week sometimes more and usually do ~1200 miles, leave Monday mid morning (except for today because I was off last week to put injectors in the truck) and am parked by noon Friday, really only have to spend 2 nights in the truck but my gf also drives so sometimes I just stay out the 3-4 depending on where I am and what she has going on, I can sit at home if I’m not working, I would think tx is dead this time of year due to the snow birds but you might want to start looking at other lanes

 

Maybe hire someone to dispatch you. No way you can look at load board while going down the freeway. Even if you pay a GOOD dispatch several hundred bucks it will be worth it to keep you going as much as clock allows imo.

 

Mitmaks is spot on hire a dispatcher. Worth the money to stay loaded. I pay my retired aunt to dispatch a few trucks for me. She loves it gives her something to do. My trucks never sit drivers are always home on weekends.
