When he "hops in his pickup and goes to a restaurant for lunch", how is he not driving?

    Well
Well, now we know why companies want to have driver-facing cameras, I guess. I remember my neighbor, who works for Pepsi (union-gig) would drive his Pepsi truck home for his lunch breaks. Never seen him driving away with his personal car on his break though.

Why are you guys taking coffee and bathroom breaks? The only way to make money is to keep the wheels turning and the drivers door shut. If it is less than 15 minutes it does not count. Fuel between 2 and 8 hours in and take a 30 then. Seldom am I on the logs for more than 11.5 hours. Unloads and fuel lines are the exceptions.

When I first went on Elogs, if I stopped to use the can I would go off duty as soon as I set the brake. By the time I get back in the truck after taking care of business and doing a walk around the truck I would have saved 7 to 10 minutes of on duty time. 2 such breaks in a day would save me 15 minutes or so on the drive line. That 15 minutes of non wasted drive time was gold for me at the end of the day several times.

You're kidding, right? Driving a car is not line 3.

He didn't say he was on line 3. He said he was on line 4.

The HOS is all BS. There should only be two lines. You’re either working or your not; on duty or off duty. Sleeper and drive should just go away. Go to 12 on and 12 off. 14 on 10 off, whatever...

That’s just my opinion. End of the day, I don’t give a rat’s rear end because I rarely work more than 8-9 hrs a day and I work M-F so hours are never a concern of mine.

Too hard to write form and manner citations if the rules are straight forward.

You said "how is he not driving?" so I thought you meant line 3.
