What do you consider good pay and do you figure by the mile or a percentage of every load hauled?
If someone could help me find this carrier..

YMMV, but a driver with > 2 years of experience and a clean history should be grossing > $1,500/wk. Location, driving history, preferences for home time and other factors will affect that figure. One of the problems with the industry is there isn’t an easy way for drivers to find out what they’re worth and point them to better opportunities. In the PNW there are union linehaul jobs offering $7,500 signing bonuses just to get drivers. Meanwhile, May Company has plenty of drivers making 27 cpm. -

I think if you're worried about whether they'll work with you on family emergencies or what have you, I think you've gotten off on the wrong foot already. You need to cross those bridges, WHEN or IF you get there . You need to understand, all trucking companies.....they're pretty much the same. The only thing that differs is the name on the door.

The truth is boss you will be burned out in the beginning stages of trucking. Even when you are off duty you are still babysitting the truck. If you are already worried about an exit strategy you are better off sticking with whatever you are doing now. Just my 2 cents.
