The mechanism to move the seat forward and back now has about 2" of slop after positioning. Makes it a little more difficult to brake smoothly when the seat suddenly slams forward and my foot is on the pedal. Any idea why the seat is moving?
It's a company truck but I don't want to lose a day or two while the shop fiddles with it.

True story; a driver I worked with had several problems with the drivers seat and company didn't do anything.
At a truck stop, he removed the seat and threw it in the dumpster, then called the company and said while he was inside the truckstop eating, someone stole the seat. Said, "I'm stuck here and can't drive the truck; what do you want me to do?"
Of course, he got a new seat. Had a new upgraded seat installed.Trucker61016, Rookie driver 956, 77fib77 and 3 others Thank this. -
@sekhon617 look for a lever that locks the seat isolator. Most seats are designed with that 2-3” of rocking movement as it helps when you’re hauling live loads like tankers and there is a lever that will lock that function out.

The seat I had pulling tankers, push the lever that adjusts the seat in the opposite direction and it locks the seat. Sometimes may have to jiggle the seat a little while pushing the lever, to lock it.Trucker61016, sekhon617 and Roberts450 Thank this.

I can’t locate the lever. A picture might help if you have one.

Easiest to just start flipping the levers on the seat. That is if your seat has the isolation feature. This is what it looks like on my Sears Atlas II seat.

On my Freightliner, the lever on the right side locks the seat from rocking. It’s on the left as you sit in the seat and reach down.Trucker61016 and sekhon617 Thank this. -

I’m with you OP. I can’t stand the seat rocking front and back. I keep mine locked from doing that. I have a Pete 389 with leather legacy seats. I *wish* I could control the up and down spring like you can on the plastic bumper POS 579s, but the legacy seat in the 389 doesn’t have that feature.
Trucker61016 and ncmickey Thank this.
