Wait tell you drive through the same scales twice a day and there is no rime to the way the lights work. Best Ive seen is everyone getting pulled in and then everyone getting the green arrow to the by-pass lane. Like WTAF???

    @krupa530 has your answer.

Check the OR Dot site for the "Green light and pre-pass transponders" box
Oregon Department of Transportation : Green Light Preclearance Program : Commerce and Compliance Division : State of Oregon

Carrying both transponders will likely cause problems because each transponder simultaneously emits its identifying signal. Even if you are traveling in Oregon with your Green Light transponder mounted correctly and your PrePass transponder stored in the glove box, there is still a good chance the system will detect the PrePass transponder signal first and spoil the chance to preclear the weigh station.

For trucks with both transponders, we recommend:

    • Use just the Oregon Green Light transponder.
    • Return the other transponder to Prepass.
    • Call 1-800-PrePass to ask them to enroll your Green Light transponder identification number into the PrePass preclearance system.
    PrePass Transponders
Motor carriers with a PrePass transponder can sign up to use it in Oregon’s Green Light Preclearance Program. Carriers wanting to use their PrePass transponder in Oregon should contact the PrePass Customer Service Center at 1-800-PREPASS (1-800-773-7277). Their hours are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mountain Time (excluding holidays). Request your PrePass transponder to be enrolled in the Oregon Green Light Program. PrePass will then contact us to complete the enrollment process.

Terms and Conditions of Transponder Usage in Oregon

    • Transponders are installed only on designated vehicles and in accordance with ODOT policies.
    • Carrier may bypass an open port or weigh station only when the transponder indicates a green light.
Exception: Carriers whose vehicles are operating under a variance permit other than an extended weight permit must report to the weigh station even if they receive a green light.
    • The motor carrier is required to report any changes in the transponder application information to ODOT's Commerce and Compliance Division (CCD) at 503-378-6054.
    • The motor carrier is required to report any changes in the vehicles added to or removed from their fleet operations to the CCD at 503-378-6054.
    • The motor carrier agrees to allow their registration based state to provide information regarding their International Fuel Tax Agreement and their International Registration Plan to the Commerce and Compliance Division for the purpose of providing bypass preclearance to their commercial motor vehicles.

    Drivewyze PreClear Bypass Program

The Green Light Preclearance Program is also interoperable with the Drivewyze Preclear bypass service.

Motor carriers that enroll in the Drivewyze PreClear bypass service are eligible to bypass ten of Oregon’s preclearance locations with the remaining twelve sites soon to follow.

The new Drivewyze sites are located in:

    • Woodburn (north and southbound).
    • Booth Ranch (north and southbound).
    • Ashland (north and southbound).
    • Southwest of Juniper Butte (north and southbound).
    • Wyeth (westbound).
    • Rocky Point (westbound).
Drivewyze equipped carriers and owner operators do not need to enroll separately in the Oregon Green Light program and do not need to obtain a separate transponder.

Drivewyze PreClear is a software service that uses GPS and the internet instead of a transponder. It runs hands-free on many brands of Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and other in-cab telematics devices including tablets and smartphones.

For more information about Drivewyze, including a full list of compatible ELDs and other in-cab devices, please visit the Drivewyze website.

I've been dragging a stepdeck the last 2 months or so, I've gone across more scales in 1 week of this than 4 years of pulling my hopper around. I still get itchy and feel a rash coming on everytine I see that open sign.

I have prepass programmed to work in the norpass states. WA and ID work fine. Oregon, there is no figuring it out. Sometimes I get pulled in only to get the internal bypass arrow, sometimes a complete bypass, but 90%+ of the time, I get pulled in. I've driven I5 both directions and gotten pulled into all three weigh stations on that route the same day. I think if it is open they simply turn the system off and pull everyone in, flipping on the closed switch if the line gets too backed up. It hasn't happened to me, however I have several friends that have been pulled in after the first or second one because of speed. They clock you from exit to entry and can tell if you have been exceeding the speed limit. No tickets issued but more a way it seems to educate and F*** with you.

The speed thing wouldn’t surprise me. I used to work with a guy that got a “log book speeding ticket” at the station on top of Cabbage. That was back was on paper logs and the drive time he logged was 65 mph. Lol

On a side note, that same weigh station made me drag out my chains once to make sure I had enough.

It has been so many years I hesitated making this comment. Last I heard the State of Kentucky uses another system or did at some point! I asked about getting a transponder and was told that if I could get my carrier to set it up all the carrier's pre-pass transponders would also work with that system. I have no idea what Kentucky is doing today!

They're 100% switched to a genuine Prepass system now. I think they were part of NorPass originally. But discovered that they and GA were the only eastern states on that system, so they switched. I'd hate to be a taxpayer in GA. They went from nothing to Norpass, to Prepass then to the in-ground preweigh system with no transponder. They wasted a lot of money.
