I bet they only noticed because he was taking up a pay to park spot.
It’s a shame it happens, but most drivers actually do die in their truck, have had that happen a couple times at places I’ve driven for over the years, never made news, one died at Gary IN, on a Friday, found him on Monday afternoon when dispatcher couldn’t get him on the phone, but no one looked cause he was doing a 34.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
My ex's stepdad passed away in his truck. His truck sat at a rest area with him deceased inside for 3-4 months, no one had noticed anything wrong all that time. Pretty sad deal.

One of my company drivers died two weeks ago in MN. We told him to go to the ER, his wife did , kids did. Said he was 325 miles from home and going to lay down. His wife talked to him at 0200 and at 0900 we saw the truck hadn't moved.

One of our drivers pulled away from dock and passed away in his seat the wheel. Dock guy didnt want to “wake” him so they put bills in the trailer. Couple hours before anyone checked and learned what the issue was..

no, they don't.
a lot ,yes, but not most -
Figure the statistics of how often you are in your truck vs in your bed at home, and you don’t die peacefully either.
Usually it’s with a huge pain in your chest, and you can’t breathe.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
