I’m unloading (tanker). I’ve been here an hour and there’s a flatbed pilgrim that’s been securing his load the entire time. It’s 12 (looks like) pallets of Quickcrete.

p.s. He’s not tarping, just straps. I come here all the time and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone (flatbed) here longer than 15 - 20 minutes securing their load.

    God prefers Diesels Thanks this.

Once, when I was a kid I saw somebody working hard. It frightened me so much I decided to get my CDL and avoid hard work. ;-)

I never knew securing a load was a race...

What difference does it make to you if it takes him 1 hour or 10 hours?

Sorry Frank, but it takes a long as he thinks it should. When he is confident that it is secure, he can go to his next stop. He will get faster as this confidence grows, but for now, he can and should, take his time.

I couldn’t care less if he’s still there Monday when I get there.

    Yeah, maybe he’s new.

Edit: I was there for an hour. He was going at it when I got there and was still at it when I left. Like I said before, I’ve never seen any of those guys take more than about 15 mins.

I used 10 chains once to secure 2 23k coils lol dad always told me "secure for the crash, not for the ride"

It used to take me a long time to secure simple loads when I first started. Just wanted to make sure everything was 10-4

I see Melton guys routinely taking a long time, but they’re always tarping. No else ever tarps, but those Melton fellas ALWAYS tarp.

I've heard of some companies making their new drivers tarp every load so they learn how to/get the hang of it. I used to haul a lot of lumber and those Maverick guys would be loading the exact same load as me going to the same consignee. No tarp load for me, tarp load for them
