For work, I've recently been spending a lot of time on Google Maps, and I've found that truckers leave a lot of reviews for distribution sites there. I haven't found any other sites for truckers to leave reviews.
I love to build websites / apps and was thinking about building something for truckers to be able to leave feedback on facilities (could also auto post to Google Maps, if folks want) for other truckers to see. Would also include information on restrooms, overnight parking, fees, etc. I know Uber Freight and Convoy collect reviews, but these are obviously just for their jobs.
Let me know what you think, even if you think this is the dumbest thing of all time. I wouldn't want to spend time on it, if it's not something folks would want.
Thank you so much for the feedback, and thank you so much for making everything in this country work!!

LOL chief Google beat you to it. If you look at the reviews on Google maps. You'll see plenty of reviews from drivers. So no it's not needed.

There are tons of reviews, but do they get you the detail you need about the site? There are lots of reviews from employees among them, for instance, and scattered information on parking, lumper fees, restrooms.
Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it. -
There's a BIG difference between restaurants and shippers. If a restaurant has issues with their food or service people will stop going and eventually they go broke. Yelp (or other review sites) just speed up the process because it's easier to learn something about a place before you go there and spend your money.
A shipper can do just fine with 0/5 stars. Even if all the O/O read the reviews and refuse to haul their freight. The job will just go to the megas and some poor schlep who will put up with anything for a year to avoid a $6,000 bill for his CDL training will get stuck with the job. Lord knows company drivers on contract to a mega have had it too good for too long and deserve the worst of the worst. -
Really great feedback. Thank you so much.

What we need is a job board. Sure, I can go to Indeed and search for CDL jobs and get hundreds of listings every day. Touch freight? Slip seat? Driver facing cameras? Vaccine requirements? None of the ads mention these things, but most of them have them. There's no way to screen out listings for details that matter. The only way to find out all the gory details about a job is to call their salesperson, uh, recruiter paid on commission, and interrogate them. Huge waste of time!ghostcookie, LifeguardNational14 and jason6541 Thank this.

That's really interesting. I've actually already built out tech for a different company I built that could naturally port over to this pretty well. Is Indeed the main way folks find jobs today?
Thank you for this. -
Indeed and Craigslist.
Screening/sorting could work both ways. The driver could answer a few questions and only see ads from employers who are interested in them. SAP? DUI? Felony? We see a lot of posts in the forum from people with, "driving challenges" wanting to know who would hire them. Wouldn't it be simpler to create a profile saying I have X years of experience, Y tickets, Z accidents and see who's interested?LifeguardNational14 Thanks this. -
Truly. Sounds like it would be great for both sides. Drivers wouldn't have waste their time with roles they aren't qualified for, and recruiters wouldn't waste their time having screeners with unqualified drivers.
