Hey everyone, I am a 23 year old entrepreneur in the trucking industry Currently operating a small fleet out of Philadelphia, PA. I've been doing a lot of produce out of South TX, shipping to NJ.
With the given hike in fuel prices, these brokers are not willing to offer a higher rate, which is hurting truckers without having an impact on brokers margins. Am I the only one who is concerned about low rates for produce loads out of the valley with higher fuel prices? It seems to me, we should just stop accepting anything lower than 6600 for a TX to NJ Load.
Should we be on Strike?

Don't like the rate, don't take the load.
Being in the reefer world for many years, people will pay.
If they won't pay your rate today, just tell them it will only increase while the produce rots on the dock. Then move on to the next potential customer. -
If you have enough money banked to make all of your equipment payments, insurance payments, and full salary for your drivers, while you "STRIKE", go for it.
RockinChair, Diesel Dave and buddyd157 Thank this. -
Strike? WTF is an independent driver strike?
I mean, I have wanted to strike a few brokers before, but that's about it.
I just remind brokers now that fuel is $1 a mile by itself, and I am not going to move your load 1100 miles for $2400, I would rather sit home and play video games.Snailexpress, alds, RockinChair and 6 others Thank this. -
What are the current rates for that Tx-Nj reefer lane.

Jesus, you can haul onions on a flatbed for that. I thought reefer paid good.D.Tibbitt and Diesel Dave Thank this.

America has gone through tough times before. We will survive this and the next challenge.
those of us who remember the 60s and 70s remember inflation. I personally remember the 70s.
my dad told me when he bought his first home in 1970 he paid 14 % interest rate.
