Medical disclosure

    Soooooo, what sort of things do you have to disclose and what sorts of things can i keep to myself?? for example if i had hernia hernia surgery 5 years ago, do i have to tell them?? If i take take high BP meds?? If I had a shoulder replacement, that's completely healed?? Will a company or DOT doc have access to all of my medical records?? Asking for a friend ;]

    You’ll have to tell them about BP meds or any other meds you’re taking on your DOT physical.
    it’ll ask if you have ever had surgery.

    At the time i took my DOT test I wasnt on BP meds but now a month later I am... The Doc asked if i had any hernias within the last 5 years, (its actually been 6 years) but that was it... Did not ask about surgery in general... If that is something i should tell a prospective company then i will, especially if they will have access to records and will find out anyway

    many applications i have filled out ask for "recent surgeries" i never jotted them down.

    they don't need to know everything.

    at the time you took the test, you wasn’t in BP meds, so you answered honestly at that time.

    Don’t say nuffin they don’t need to know.

    I made the mistake of disclosing to ODFL that I visited a chiropractor regularly.

    Next thing I know, I’m driving a 300 mile round trip to go lift 50 lbs on to a shelf at some occupational outfit.

    I just wanted to make sure that i wasnt going to get to training, and get pulled into some room and a doctor slaps down my medical file and says, can you explain this to me?? .... Maybe i watch too many crime dramas...

    Had mine yesterday and one question was have I ever broken any bones.
    I answered many.
    Doctor asked which ones and how long ago and just moved on.
    Asked about surgery and told him nothing major and he just kept going w examination.
    I just generalize and am more specific if asked by the doctor.
