Most states if not all, company can take if out of bonuses, which are not considered normal pay- such as a safety bonus.

    Still undecided Thanks this.

Yes, but the bonus is structured for a 'claw back', base pay is not. Also, how often is the bonus worth more than the repair?

For example, last week we had a driver 'kiss' a yellow post with the side of the trailer. He broke the midship light and cracked the side skirt. Tow truck came out and moved the trailer over 3 feet - call it $300. The side skirt is about $500, add in 3 hours of shop time to make the repairs and we're easily over the driver's quarterly bonus. And that's a really minor incident.

How much do you think this is going to cost?

If the company wants to fire the driver, they can do that. If they want to retain the driver but not pay out a safety bonus, that's fine too. What they can't do is charge the driver $200 a week for the next year to cover the repairs and threaten to sue the driver for the full amount if the driver quits.

Motorcyclist splitting lanes on I-270 on the north side of St Louis in the construction caused a kerfuffle. Driver took the jersey barriers and then the ditch to avoid said kerfuffle - at least according to the driver. If we asked a woodcutter, a dead samurai, and a commoner we might get to truth, or not.
