My health card is on file with the state of Mississippi. If I were to lose my hard copy would DOT be able to verify my health card through other means?

screenshot on your phone, or keep the little card in wallet.
Supposed to be able to see it’s valid when they scan your license, but if their system is down it’s why you keep med card. -
In my state, after you submit a copy of the DOT card to the state, they record that you have a valid DOT card in their system. When the cops "runs your license check" it shows the status of your CDL and that you have a DOT card. Maybe MS is still 40 years behind the other states, or not.

When I was active I kept my briefcase just behind the right-hand seat. In it, I kept several thousand bucks as well as my checkbook, and spare Comdata/EFS checks along with extra logbooks and scan sheets. I had my Birth certificate as well. I also had a copy of my medical long form. When I left my truck for much longer than to maybe get a fuel receipt that briefcase went with me. I really never recommended keeping that long form on you. Make a copy and keep both in a safe place.CV66GMG3 Thanks this.

I carry my hard copy and also scanned and emailed PDF to myself. I can reproduce it anywhere.

Your employer should have a copy on file. You should also be able to get it from the doctor's office. Pretty sure they have to keep records of any visit to their facility. I would assume that includes DOT physicals.
In the future, keep one in your truck (I keep mine in my clipboard case, a pic on your phone and one at home. Main thing is to keep a few in different places so the likelihood of you losing all of them is slim to none. -
DO NOT rely on any government entity to have something on file that they are supposed to.
singlescrewshaker, cuzzin it, ‘Olhand and 1 other person Thank this. -
Doesn't the law as written require you to have a copy with you?
Just because they have it on file does not exempt you from having one on hand. -
FMCSA has advised both its staff and roadside enforcement personnel to accept proof of a driver’s medical certification status and expiration date on a CDLIS MVR, as the basic information required to substantiate that a driver is medically qualified.

Canadians have been operating in the US without a card for at least 20 years.
