Anyone want to tell me to not get leased on to Landstar right now? I am fed up waiting for the "perfect time" which is never coming. I have about ten years driving, I have good finances, I am a grown man, husband, father and homeowner, if those things haven't got me yet, balancing a single truck O/O situation should be just another headache. Someone tell me why I am being stupid. I am about to go buy a truck in this wretched economy.

Trucks are not expensive now. Go buy the truck!

A guy can have a truck or a family, not many can have both and make a living. If you love your family, just drive some one elses truck. Life is simpler that way. Good Luck with your decision. Look at Magnum from Fargo ND. They hire in Ohio, nice equipment decent people and every 2 week payroll.

Why not get a local job so you can be home with your family? Once you own a truck you will be married to said truck and your real family will slowly watch you in their rear view mirror as you disappear.

I thought the same thing a couple years ago. However, the economy was still good. Hindsight is 20/20. The old saying of 'If the wheels ain't turning, You ain't Earning' isn't that old when owing a truck. Just aim for that 1 Million miles without regrets when you do buy the truck.

More power to you. Have it penciled out on paper how you'll bring 2-3x the $ to the dinner table than what you currently are making now? This could also mean you make the same, but in 1/2 to 1/3 the time.

Ohio is great you could be home every other. 600 mile runs each way...just learn from myistake. Build that maintenance account. Lack of a maintenance account took me out this year. And I'm with land star
