There’s a couple freight drivers that are on the thread I started when I went to work on the ground side. Post your question in my thread, one of them will answer. I do know freight is nationwide and has hubs all over Florida. If that’s what hubby wants to do look into the Orlando and Jacksonville hubs.
FedEx Ground Linehaul with JohnBoygentleroger Thanks this. -
The reason why the wages are different is because they're adjusted for the locality. Cost of living is way different in Tampa vs Albany GA. Ya'll probably are at the top end.

FedEx Freight is not teams. And JohnBoy works for Ground, which is completely different.Chinatown Thanks this.

Usually with any LTL (less than load carrier) when you see a day cab that is pulling two trailers, that is what they refer to as a "road" or "relay" driver. He may be home everyday, but he will be pushing some miles still doing that job. Tell him if they want him to do LTL with swing doors, unless he has really good knees, and lots of patience that he won't like it.Chinatown Thanks this.

Thanks for setting me straight on that.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.

maybe one could shed light on it I was told by area boss here that fedex freight is 1099
-
Hi, So his truck is set at 75 mph and he pushes around 750 daily and runs out his 11 hr line. The thing he hates the most is sitting around waiting for a load. So that's not an issue.
-
No. Not to say that they don't use 'purchased transportation' from time to time, but, no they are not 1099
-
Doubles are typically used for what we call “linehaul” in the LTL business, although sometimes they’ll use them on the city side for swaps or if there’s a place in that territory to park one temporarily, to be able to deliver a long box worth of freight without the long box access problems.
On the linehaul side, a driver will leave with two trailers bound for two different terminals in different regions.Bumper Thanks this.
