If only we could go back to the old ways. And while we're at it, let's get rid of these #### e-logs and go back to paper. I can't run three log books and go coast to coast and back in five days anymore because of it.

I have only scanned 1 for the load I delivered last Friday, and it assigned all the documents to the right trip number, but when I got the email confirmation, it had the trip number I just delivered this morning on it (and this mornings trip number is still on the e-trip's load list so I know I picked the right trip). I scanned it in the old way as well with the bubble sheet. I'll give it 1 paycheck f'up...if it screws up a 2nd one, I will deliver my truck to Deland.

You can tell it's a holiday weekend. I got the next to the last parking spot in the Mechanicsburg yard, of course there are a dozen regular spots being taken up by bobtails that could be parked in the bobtail/trade truck slots, or over in the bobtail parking spots next to the fuel island. But that's too far for some of our precious most valuable assets to walk.

It's not true, the failures just aren't as visible to us. Below my "A piece of paper never had software issues" is a quote from SSB where the old method did in fact have an issue. If we go back further to trip envelopes - how many of them got lost or damaged? Your company had to hire a team to fix electronic trip reports, but how many people were needed to collect and collate the written reports? What was the error rate of the written reports?
One of the interesting things about moving to a new company is hearing the guys ##### about how the 'old way' was superior. I never used the 'old way' and don't have any issues doing it the 'new way'. The 'old way' was 'superior' because they were used to it. I think if we went from the 'new way' as the standard practice to the 'old way' there would be just as much kvetching.
Not every update or process change is going to be positive. Some are going to be down right asinine start to finish. It's important to step back and take an objective look at why there was a push for a change and what the overall impact is. Something wasn't working or was costing too much. Take a process that works 100% of the time and replace it with a process that works 90% of the time but costs half as much - it's a solid trade off. Now take a process that works 85% of the time, but you aren't impacted by the failures and replace it with a process that works 90% but you see every failure. To you it feels like a cluster, but to the people who had been dealing with a 15% failure rate it feels like an improvement.Bud A. Thanks this. -
Why would you do that? You already knew what you were getting into. I remember a post that said something like, It's better to the devil you know than the devil you don't. Do you still think that it applies today?Bud A. Thanks this.

I didn't know they were going down this path, when I said that I didn't know we were gonna be forced into using a questionable app that might cause me to not be paid correctly. They have been using the old reliable Transflo system for decades, with the only change is when they dropped the use of the truckstop scanning and went 100% scanning from the Crete app. With the old system, if you realized you screwed something up, you could just rescan it in after you fixed the screw up. With this new system, you got 1 shot. Once you hit the submit you can't go back and fix something and rescan it in. Another issue I see is with the lumper receipts. Many lumper services now only use digital receipts sent via txt or email. Since we are ONLY able to scan our trips in on the tablet, how do I get the receipt from the email or txt app on my phone to the tablet? Take a picture of my small phone screen?(which would most likely have flash glare from the tablet's LED flash) When it was on my phone, then I would just save it and send in the T-flow from my phone. Now I don't have access to the e-trip on my phone, and the tablet doesn't have a phone number or access to my email to have it sent there instead. So turning in a lumper receipt is gonna be a PITA.Last edited: May 25, 2026 at 3:00 AM

They've been saying they're going exclusively to this for awhile, just no exact date. Now I had an issue where I was using the phone app, and deland called saying my trip paperwork ended up somewhere else, then told me I was supposed to be using this. I knew we were going to be switching but had no idea I had been switched to it, if that makes sense. I do prefer using my phone to scan stuff in, its awkward holding the tablet, but the actual system is better. I did talk to them to make sure I was sending stuff in right and what exactly needed to be sent in. They can screen mirror your tablet so they can see exactly what you're doing and talk you through it.hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.

His reference was about a statement I posted years ago about the devil you know...
I used it again last night and it did something different than the 1st time. After I scanned on Friday, when you get to the point after you hit the 'Next' and it asks for the trip, truck and driver code, the 1st time it didn't automatically fill in the trip, last night it did. I did everything exactly the same both times, so I don't know why it did things differently, but it did. This is why I don't trust their system.
And I went thru the tutorial on the media again, and it still doesn't explain how we're supposed to get electronic lumper receipts from a txt or email added to our document que so we can send it in. I guess I am gonna have to get my printer down from the top bunk and print out a hard copy to scan in, which is SO much more convenient than just saving it to my phone and using a bubble sheet. Thankfully, on the Crete side, I haven't had to use lumpers yet, nowhere near as often as the Shaffer side.navypoppop and Vic Firth Thank this. -
I have been on the E trip scanning sheets app for six weeks now and I have not had any issues with payroll… I’ve gotten paid for everything detention pay when put in lumper reimbursements, washout etc.
navypoppop Thanks this. -
Just ask customer for a paper receipt I’ve already asked one customer and they had no problem printing me one Outnavypoppop Thanks this.
