I had just started driving for the day in Grant FL and needed some food an hour later. I took the route 40 exit in Ormond Beach FL and spotted a McD's on the right. Umum good. Well I pulled in without thinking how big the parking lot was. I panicked because I made a big rookie mistake until I saw you could drive a truck through the drive through. I thanked my guardian angel and then went in. Before I ordered, I was asked if I drove that big truck out there. I said yes and was told we are not expecting any deliveries. I said I was here to order and gave them my order. I ate and left and did not think anything of it.
I got a call two hours later asking why I had went through the drive through of McD's. Hmmm I needed food and I ordered inside I told my dad. Turns out my cousin saw me and called my grand parents and they called my dad thinking I got fired cause she did not see me leave. I did tell my dad that McD's architects were smart and designed them well. Any similar stories???
KH
Thank you McD's

I could think of a thousand--but I'm getting tired--so they will have to wait--but WE have all done something like that a one time or another--now it is how you handle it--but the family part--that's priceless!
Oh and try being the youngest in an(at the time)3 generation trucking family--couldn't go anywhere doing anything--without someone seeing me and saying something to someone--and I grew up in that area--and cut my teeth running produce outta fla--to the point--and wasn't a whole lotta 95 finished then--just kept thinking--is there anyone between Sanford and the Bronx who doesn't know my grandad/dad/uncle etc--LMAO

Best wishes--have a safe trip and enjoy the ride! The Challenger Thanks this. -
I like to start my day late in the evening and end it mid morning. Along about 4 or 5 AM I start looking for McDonalds along my route. I'm always looking if there's obvious parking or not. Sometimes I don't want to commit as I approach the offramp and look over and see parking and thing '####, coulda woulda shoulda' but keep going to the next one. If I see the arches on top of Love's or Pilot-- Score! Then I save it in my GPS for later. But several times I got snookered into getting off to eat, and no parking. The good news is that early in the morning you can get away with murder blocking streets up or illegally parking for a few minutes while you grab your food. The worst one was where I had tried to look for a place to park, no truck signs everywhere, get stuck on a one way type access road, oh well, walk over get my food and coffee and luckily was able to continue on down the road onto a construction site and do a turn around and get out of there.

Can't disagree with that--BUT--it's kinda like Pilot--can be a pain in the ##### but the do have good coffee--so I go to both--but rarely if ever eat there
bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
Did they think you were applying?...
I've turned into quite a few places where I wasn't as fortunate to be able to drive thru but had to block many lanes of traffic as I backed out to escape...One was a Pilot that didn't cater to trucks, I had no idea they existed until I turned into it, DOH! -
i know exactely what you mean olhand--my snack used to be a couple 1/4 pounders followed by a dozen of timmies donuts--just for the ride-----a couple of stents later--i can really eat either--i will have mcd's every 3 months or so---with the kids--but that is it--and it tastes nasty now as well
but i do like the coffee from pilot--and mcd's--and timmies--the old j stuff---tastes like bug remover to me--cant drink it at all'olhand Thanks this. -
Well, if this is the case...
I'd like to thank far too many places, streets, businesses, and unknowing folk to list here! -
I've seen quite a few Love's that were strictly catering to 4 wheelers.
