Great advice. If you are starting out and have had 3 accidents and take pain killers and muscle relaxers, don't go to Stevens.Corporal_Clegg, jomar68, anj8488 and 3 others Thank this.

He never said he was going to pop one and jump behind the wheel. You take them when you need them and go to bed, they do wear off before you drive.fancypants Thanks this.

Yea, I was having a problem with back spasms a few years ago the doc gave me a muscle relaxer called flexerol. The label say don't operate heavy machinery more like don't make any f####### plans good night see you next week. Lol

I will admit that Stevens school (different company, btw) is disorganized. However, I would rather drive for Stevens than Swift. The differences in training quality and safety scores speak for themselves.
My guess is Stevens didn't hire you because of the accidents (if the newest one is 6 years old, then none are on your driving record anymore, and you should have kept it to yourself), or the drugs (more of the same. if you aren't taking them, why bring them up?), or a combination of the 2.
But don't feel bad. Only about 25% of students pass the background check, the physical, and the road test. After that, another 50% quit during the OTR training (can't stop a quitter from quitting). And all in all, only 5-10% of that 1st week class will make it through.
My 1st week class was 48 students. Only 6 graduated.
The thing is this: the grass ain't necessarily greener anywhere else. Every company has shortcomings. If it looks greener elsewhere, they just have a different kind of manure.
Stevens is HUGE on safety. I'd rather deal with a little office chaos than work for a company who's main focus is their bottom line. -
No kidding those things drop ya! They dropped me every time, where even the high powered oxycodone I was given after my surgery only put me to sleep the first few days after that surgery. The other ones I had been on are just as bad as flexeril. Can't remember the name of the things now though.

You can't Drive and be on Painkillers or Muscle Relaxers PERIOD! I don't think you can even have them in the Cab with you.
-
Yes it is. Who told you that?
-
Lesson learned through the School of Hard Knocks.

Thank you for this! I'm going to pass it on to another driver who was looking into training for them!
