I got screwed hard as Legacy. I never went choice, they didn't have that program when I first started. And based on the trailing equip status, I am not certain I would be able to make money. I refuse to cut corners and haul a bad trailer. I had one dropped to me in Cedar City once that had 2 lights out, tire blown out, and had no brakes due to the service airline being split halfway though.

You dont know they didnt. I have given the name of the last driver to dbl with explanation of issues. Where it went from there I dont know.
-
Do they pay you guys for your time when you get 1 fixed. Pay a driver hourly while he takes care of it and he is less likely to leave it for the next guy and doesn't get as ticked off when he loses time getting one fixed.
-
I had two empty trailers at the yard that had holes in the floor so I took the time to put them into the system since the other drivers didnt do it I understand the new trailers are rolling in but you still need to take care of the olders that are left
-
No. You must be broken down for 24 continuous hours to get breakdown pay.
-
Right there you have it. I bet more trailers would get repaired if the driver got paid $15-20 per hour while they were being fixed. There is a financial incentive to run with subpar equipment and/or leave it for the next guy.
Even say $5 for putting one in the system would help. Too many want to punish the guy who doesn't do the right thing. Why not reward the guy who does?91B20H8 Thanks this. -
The best idea I've heard yet came from another SNI who's dealing with the same crap I am. Pay the guy dealing with the breakdown $10-$15 an hour during breakdown, and make the guy who dropped it OOS pay for the next guy's sit time (IF you can prove it was OOS when dropped, like say, ABS modules gone, brakes too low, etc.)
-
Sat for six hours to change a tire and replace a brake chamber and new slack adjuster. The guy was piss because it was Sunday. Cursing and yelling at the chamber lol. I told him wasn't my fault and even called dispatch to see maybe I can pick up something else instead of waiting
-
Been there, done that. I ask my DBL so often if I can pick something else up. "Uh... We really don't have anything else in the area for you to pick up... Just stick with that and keep me posted..." Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I am at the house today, and I think I am cleaning out my rig tonight and taking the truck to them tomorrow. Tired of not making money.

Im out of SLC too and my miles have dropped substantially lately. 300 miles loads everyday day with a relay to pick up every now and then and now I have a 24 hour wait to pick up another sub 400 mile run. Ive already started researching companies and what I want to do. With 10 years experience, I shouldn't have to struggle to get $900 a week minimum, staying out for months at a time. This is rediculous
