I am waiting until the end of October to get $1300 - $1500 bonus. Once I have it I will bolt to another company.
The Reason: all knight trucks are being turned down to 63mph. I did not join to go 63. Do 63 on I-80 in Ohio and you become a road hazard.

Not too long ago 63 was a speed demon for Ohio.

I contacted them today because I will be going through the school to get my CDL since its been 7 yrs since I have had it, and they do have the sliding scale. Student drivers start out (after training) 28-37 cpm for the first 30k miles. After the first 30k your bumped up to 35-44 cpm, but than again that is from a recruiter and coming out of the Army I can tell that they are just as full of crap as some of the Army recruiters out there. Saying that, how valid those prices are I can't verify.

I've been at receivers twice where one of their drivers smashed another truck in a dock door. Last time, the guy was to my left and I swear he pulled out of his door in 6th gear because I've never seen anyone tear ### out a door so fast. Idiot forgot to close his doors and he tore the guy's truck to his left up. Took his mirror and hood off and didn't even bother to stop. The poor guy who he smashed and I had to run after him and flag him down. Turns out it was this driver's THIRD accident in 4 weeks! Unreal!

to run 640 miles a day 5 days a week in a 63 mile an hour truck is amazing. how does someone avoid traffic jams all the time and no waiting at any stop. also must be going across Kansas type states to keep that speed up. Never get pulled into scales, road construction, snow storm and other weather conditions pretty amazing

My company has our trucks at 62mph, and we're among the safest companies in the industry.

Some of these wannabes need to rethink their slow trk comments...it's not so much the speed the trk is governed at as much as the problem is the fool behind the wheel...if you have someone behind the wheel that is careless then it's careless whether or not the trk run at 30mph, 62mph or 70+mph...

Well i am still here at Knight. Got use to doing the 63 mph thing and i am dealing with it. I pickup my load in Westampton, NJ and take it to Canton, MI. It takes approximately 10 - 11 hours of drive time to get it there by going the PA turnpike, I-80 in ohio, I-280 to I-75 to I-275 in Michigan. Notice i said Drivetime. I am lucky that i get to shutdown at Ikea for the night and get unloaded in the morning while i am off the clock. then i get to pick a load up in michigan or ohio and most of the time it is already preloaded for the trip back. If i need to do a 34 i try to do it at ikea since i already did shutdown the night before and get unloaded off the clock i just have to do 1 more night and it is done. works real good doing it that way. When i drive i make sure i keep it pegged at 63. nly thing that sucks is when i get the heavy loads coming over the small mountains of pa. Most of the time i do make it in one day but if it is going to snow then i will have to do it by grabbing the load the night before and driving upto Carlisle, pa and take a 10hr break there then in the morning i will continue on to Michigan. From Carlisle it is only 462 miles so in the snow i can take my time and still make it there with no problem.
