I have an interview coming up in a few weeks with a local company. Home nightly type deal. I have been to several job interviews for office work and know what is acceptable to wear there, what I dont know is what should I wear to my trucking interview??? Im otr right now. They said if they like me they were going to do road test after interview. Which means pretrip etc. Dont want to be overdressed or risk ruining good clothes if Id ont have to. Any help is appreciated.

Do what a friend of mine did, go dressed up in your glad rags, and bring a pair of coveralls. Dickies sells them cheap. Get a lite summer pair. It will make you look more efficient. He had the same thing happen to him. Mike

I'm thinking of a movie called " The Full Monty " . . .
You go dressed in full on 3 piece suit, then if they ask to do a road test, whip out your portable sounds, slam them on the desk, - hit play ( preloaded with 'Convoy') - and leap on the nearest table.
Commence to dance routine, the finale of which you rip off the Velcro seamed suit, to reveal your . . .

C'mon! Get all Billy Big Rigger! Break out the cowboy hat and boots, the nut hugger jeans with a wallet on a chain and squeeze on the fingerless driving gloves. And don't forget a big belt buckle. You're sure to get the job.
EDIT: Almost forgot! You need the mirrored sunglasses too!
Seriously though, it's the same for any job. Was always taught to dress as though you could start work immediately. So, go dressed to work. Wear what any "NORMAL' person would to drive a truck.MZdanowicz Thanks this. -

What is the dress code for the drivers at that company? If they look like slobs that just rolled out of a gutter....dress like a slob that just rolled out of a gutter. If they have a uniform that requires a polo or a dress/button-up shirt and 'x' pants...wear that.
I agree that you don't want to be way over-dressed, but it's important to look the part for which you're applying. I was in a similar boat as you. I was a white collar guy (business casual in my old office). When I went in for my interview...I wore jeans (black jeans are the uniform requirement) and a dress shirt (the uniform shirt for the company is either a polo or button-up/nice shirt). I wanted to look like I cared about my appearance, but not so much that they'd think twice about hiring me. Even after four months of working here...I still get the occasional "WTF are you doing driving a truck?" whenever I run into someone new and they ask about my backstory.
Shaggy Thanks this.
