. . . Until the maintenance bill exceeds the escrowed funds available.
rocknroll81 Thanks this. -
A lot of deals are about $650 a week just for the truck, then $0.12 cents per mile goes into a maintenance account the carrier has complete control over. Then they start charging you for all the little things-- qualcomm rent, prepass, pike pass, pet deposit, ride-along rider insurance, glass insurance, bobtail insurance, fuel card fees every time you swipe, transflo fees etc etc.
If the driver is very productive and produces over 11,000 miles in a month, they come back and charge $0.09 cents per mile and the carrier keeps it til the end of the lease and gives back to lessee. If for some reason lessee cannot complete the lease the carrier gets to keep all the maintenance and over mileage charges.
Then the carrier gets to re-lease the truck back out to the next sucker.
The best case scenario is to have the lessee train new students-- get a government kickback for training people in a new career plus clip the lessee for $0.05 cents per mile and oh yeah, the $0.09 cents per mile over 11,000 miles a lessee and student team are sure to break.
Carrier negotiates big fuel discounts with the chains and keeps all discounts for themselves.
Carrier shorts the loaded miles out such that they trim off close to $0.10 per mile off the contract rates with lessee.
Carrier ends up making as much money moving freight as they do stealing it from their own drivers.blairandgretchen, blanco, average joe and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't even pay that in a month...

just another prime lie trainees are paid 14 cents a mile by lease op trainers! The trainee is guaranteed 700 a week wich is 5000 team miles if the trainer/trainee team doesn't hit 5000 miles prime pays the difference
