sometimes there are things that just strike me as strange, maybe some of you have a story or two, I was going by the Shelbyville scale today on I64 and noticed there speed lane sign is 12 mph?

Why 12? did some genius at the state level decide that 10 mph was too slow, but by god we can't put 15 mph out there, what are you trying to do, kill everyone?

    Just struck me as funny.

I don't remember where but somewhere in the northeast there's one that's 3mph across the scale. i'll start my week off up there this week if I run through it i'll edit and post where.

some of the ones in NC has signage and a bypass lane for bobtails and empty flatbeds. struck me as odd they actually showed some common sense given the way they insist on backing us up way out into the highway lol

Out West a lot of WS have 3mph signs before crossing scale.
Maybe the 2 is an upside down 5. Saving the state money on quantity purchase on 5 signs.

I think it was Mississippi eastbound I10 yesterday, go into the scale, roll gently across the platform with my hazmat placard load and GO AHEAD pops up-- cool. Grab some gears and several hundred feet ahead is another stop sign. Almost didn't see it. I think they put it there to trap drivers into easy money tickets. I mean your mind is on just getting green lighted woohoo stuff and boom you don't see the stop sign then they bust your for blowing a traffic control device.

Years ago I stopped at the weigh station to stretch my legs, had my lime green vest on. Got my dog out and walked her for 20 minutes. Well, on the way back we were walking all around the TT looking under etc, and I had her jump in the truck. The drivers on the other side of the interstate saw that and they started chattering like a bunch of old women in a sewing group about how the drug sniffing dogs were out etc. Hehee I got on the CB and said the driver is inside handcuffed and tazed for hauling 40,000 pounds of high end heroin.

The CB chatter was going on for miles after with eastbounders warning westbounders about drug sniffing dogs at the scalehouse lol.

So they can just throw up 20 km/h signs & won't have to recalibrate the scales when the US finally adopts the metric system.

I don't think the USA will go metric BUT i do think DY is on the right track.
What if the manufacturer off that system is using only metric?

It's WA or OR that have a 3 mph speed limit on their scales...the only problem, my speedometer starts at 5.

NC scales, "no hard braking on scale" but they leave the light green until you are about to gas on it to leave...then they throw the red light so you have to brake hard or roll past the scale.
