There is no fmcsa rule or regulation regarding sleep apena but there will be in the future. Its the big companies that require sleep tests, and c-pap machines. For the record I have been on a c-pap for 9 years and it definately has worked out good for me.

My question is, does the cpap machine require the user to be asleep or does it somehow know the person is asleep before it starts recording the required daily percentage of use? I mean if it is required to wear it 4 hours a day why not wear it a couple three hours while drving to knock out some of the requirement?

No it does not. Heck even the lady that delivered the machine said if I only need 30 minutes out of the 4 hours just wear the mask and watch a bit of tv.
As for while driving it might notice that as one should not be as relaxed as just sitting watching tv.

I usually try to get the minimum 4-5 hours every night as much as I can. The problems I had getting started were the constant bs with my previous company and their insurance vender, and trying to get answers from the doctors and providers. Seems like everyone is on the take with the whole sleep apnea issue and
Especially the health care industry constant trying to make every single burp, fart, twitch, and cough into disorder which they can make a profit from. I have to wonder what kind of proof they have drummed up for this garbage theory they believe in so much that treating sleep apnea is going to cure fatigue related crashes. I think the biggest cause of fatigue is the FMCSA itself.scottlav46 Thanks this. -
I might be biased but sleep apnea has scared the hell out of me since Reggie white died of it several years back. I mean...I watched the video of me sleeping and I stopped breathing I don't know how many times. Got a machine (pre-driving days) and put it on the shelf. Then 92 died and I started taking it seriously. I'm now on my third machine since then, use it every night, and I feel great. No more sore throat, no more mid day naps, no more pullin off cuz I can't even think...I just strap up when I shut off the light and sleep like an ol hound dog. I even use the head strap to hold my phone for alarm purposes lol I recommend anyone that snores heavy or feels tired all day to really give that pain in the tuckas machine a real chance. Just my 2 cents.

I've been using it every night unless I'm unable to like if I'm on a bus or plane. I will admit I'm more awake in the morning, and hopefully the technology will evolve into better ways to treat SA, at least with more comfortable options at least. What I don't like was the lack of information I had about how long treatment would last , and the side effects like the eustacian tube inflammation which screws with my hearing.

Your falling asleep by too much CO2, a muscle within the heart not forcing out enuf CO2, (Carbon Dioxide).
The ques: How can you strengthen this muscle?
