After training they use to put you with a trainer for 3 weeks. Then they would pair you up with another student and make you team with that fellow gor another 3 weeks,so y'all can learn and help each other. Then they would bring you back to the terminal and split y'all up.All this depended on how good you are working through the process.Things could have changed

Thanks for sharing. Do you mind saying about how long ago this was. Things may have changed. Don't know why SNI is not very forthcoming on their website about this other than "Orientation" is 3 weeks. If this is still how they do the after orientation training that isn't to bad. Thanks again.

I was unemployed and Texas workforce paid for my CDL training, and my rent & utilities while I was in school as well as bought my boots and prescription safety glasses. You might check out your states workforce commission.

I finished training six months ago. I was out with a trainer for seven days then on my own once I passed the final test. The in school was seven days with the last five where you drove in the morning or afternoon. I did get my cdl before starting with Schneider

I still regret giving up my Columbia - it's still on the road and has spent less time in the shop than my Cascadia (thanks def/dpf/scr). The Columbia's aren't the most upscale of trucks but they are reliable.

As for info on starting with Schneider go to the Schneider subforum and check out DFO's threads. Well written and informative for all new drivers but especially for Schneider.

I got trained by Schneider 20 years ago at their Greenbay training center. They use to have a skid pad. I ended up staying with them for five years. Started as OTR, then western region, then local. I still have my black jacket with all the cool patches.
