That may be true driver....there are hundreds of stories about bad companies. And yes, there will be more. But you must consider, how often the version absent from the post. Which makes me wonder what is the truth? Is the truth weighed based on accusation or does the company have a right to object. The truth must state the time, place and a witness to collaborate the alleged violation of a drivers right to appeal.

The drivers have no rights in the probationary period. They can be fired without due process. It is the law according to the EEOC Dept of Labor. 90 days is like a test. After the 90 days if the employee has work related issues, he should at least be advised and as to how to correct the issues.

So often we never hear that the driver was issued a verbal and a written warning before he was terminated or resigned voluntarily.

I believe there are two versions to the story, the employee version and the company version, and it take a wise man to be open minded to both in the discovery.

Hmmm.. Drivers getting fired for drug abuse.... That's new to you?? Just about every company out here worth it's salt tests for drugs and if you fail you're out...

Good ole' boys getting all the good freight...you must not have been there long, a lot of companies want you to prove yourself before you get the absolute best stuff...

How do you know for sure they hire violent felons? Is there some inside info on fellow drivers?

A felony conviction for armed robbery would disqualify a application, however a felony conviction for non violent crime like possession of a class I scheduled narcotic can be over looked after years of staying out of trouble.

There is no way 'Mabe' is calling inmates at state prisons and offering them jobs...

Guys he's telling the truth. I work for EPES Transport of Greensboro, NC and out of my class of students, 12 in total, 7 went to work for Mabes and ALL are now unemployed except for one, and he hates it. I feel sorry for him. The support there is nonexistent, Mabes simply hires folks that are brand new at trucking and have records, felons or those with a bad driving record, that companies like EPES simply won't give risk giving a job to. They run super fast, are disorganized as heck, and overall treat you like garbage.
They are not for folks that can find any other company, plain and simple

Well several years ago the owner was in a lot of trouble with the law for falsifying logs if I remember right he was treating solo trucks as team trucks making up logs for them.he was facing prison time don't know if he did any.

That's the way we do things and everybody seems happy with it. We have guys who have been here 30 years. That kind of loyalty and a steady record of good job performance should be rewarded.

We don't have a lot of breakdowns on the road but we'll usually send our shop truck out if we do. If the driver can fix it himself, and most of them are pretty good at that, we'll get the parts to him.

The younger guys starting out in this business don't seem to want to spend the time it takes to work their way up in seniority and job experience.

Nobody minds the bad loads when they ain't doing them. No system works like FIFO. Anything else loses drivers.
