Speeding up unload times

I love paying $350 in lumper fees, waiting 5 hours, and then seeing my empty trailer filled with pallet shards. Seriously, how do you #### up so many pallets with a pallet jack???

 

If you run hard, you'll enjoy those hours of waiting because you can get some more sleep to keep that driver door closed on your next load!

 

We once had a load of oranges. Something like 12 pallets of the stuff from fort lauradale to a particular schoolhouse in NY State. We recieved a note to defend against the local police when there overnight prior to unloading at that school yard. It's so unusual.

Next morning. 35 students were briefed and told off how to get to the load. I trained them how to get into and out of the trailer lined em up in two rows and off they went.

Those 12 pallets vanished off the truck in roughly 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Most of the students made a path to the wife to get the oranges off her because it was a all boys school and women were scarce he he he.

 

Explain & have the office folks "initial" same. I doubt they'd read it

 

Tell the lumpers you hid two $50 bills somewhere in the trailer. First one to find one gets the $50 in your hand, too.

 

Lumper companies are a big time racket. Highest priced they ever charged my company was for a dog pet food load, $750.00. Did a back to back from OK. to TX and both loads were $750.00 each to unload, I mean I didn't really complain much company I drive for paid it, but when I asked the dock dude why so much he claimed the food was going to the far side of the warehouse like 1/4 mile away, and had to be broken down and counted

 

Alpo maybe? Allentown has a Alpo shipper famous for stacking 11 layers 5 to a layer on pallets that always get speced to 8 or 9 layers per pallet at reciever.

 

No this was a Purina load. My own opinion of course but I think the lumper company hadn't made their quota for the week...lol...my company was kidding with me but asked me if I had stock in the lumper company..lol

 

Nope. Get comfortable, get a good book, whatever it's going to be a while...

 

$260 for a full load of candy at jewel Chicago. 6.5 hours just to unload. Glad I get paid by the hour lol.
