Im heading to Des Moines for training on Friday I think my recruiter Kendall answered most of my questions i guess i really just want to know what I should watch out for going through training. and if they pair me up with a driver that is completely opposite of me or is a scum bag (nicest way i could put it) how are they at switching trainers if requested.

Training is boring, but remember - it is an extended job interview. You can be kicked out of training at any time and things you do during training may result in no CDL or no job offer when it's over. Be courteous and act interested or at least willing to learn at all times.

CRST understands that two perfectly normal people may not be able to get along. They try to pair students with trainers who have something in common, but there's often a shortage of trainers so that isn't always possible. If you can't work things out with your trainer they will find you a new one. It may take a few days for your truck to be near a terminal and another trainer to be available though. In extreme cases (acts of violence, attempted sexual assault, etc.) they will put you up in a hotel while you wait for your new trainer. Trainers have been screened and many have been doing it for a long time so those cases are very rare.

Your first week or so on the road is the only time you'll be spending much time with them. After your trainer says it's o.k. for you to drive solo you'll be sleeping while he's driving or driving while he's sleeping most of the time.

After your training is over you get a co-driver. You get to pick your co-driver. You won't be forced to drive with someone. Even then if it doesn't work out for some reason you can get a new co-driver.

I would hope this is not the norm, but when I was in Law Enforcement I received a call of a possible sexual assault. It was a trainee, not for a mega, who had been raped by her trainer. The company was telling her they would take care of it, not involve law enforcement, and if she went through with reporting it she would be fired. I heard the DM tell her to tell me she was mistaken or else. I told the DM I was advising her she needed to file an EEOC complaint, and get an attorney. She quit on the spot, I took her for her legal medical and the DA did file against the driver. I have to ask, how often do companies tell the victims not to report it? I did tell the DM he was lucky I was not filling out a complaint for an arrest warrant for victim intimidation. I also told him to tell his management I was putting in the report the intimidation and they should be consulting counsel.
I am not sure what happened to the trainee, the driver was convicted.
