To answer the OP and thread topic....

Yes, hes a scam artist. No he doesnt know much about the real world owner operator situation (unless your at fedex).

do not take his advice on products like air cell, turbo 3000D and others. Hes getting paid by those companys to promote and help rip guys off. Thats a fact...

The guy was shilling for his own profit unproven, questionable products and specs on a custom built $200,000 tractor that was a complete and utter failure and you wonder if he really shares any blame?

There was a time where people use to hate on Mike Holmes too but look at him now, how many people's he's helped along the way.

Rutherford is one of us, he's as full of shut as any one of us. He's been running a microfleet for years and been through the ups and downs like many of us have. All he does is share the knowledge he has gained over the years and although a 20 year owner open may have differing opinions, the new guy looking to get into the industry could learn a awful lot from a guy like him.

As for the products go, everyone in the public eye has a chance of recommending a bad product. Once again, he's one of us. When you have good luck with a product what do you do? tell all your friends and post it on TTR foe all of us to see! You know how many things I've endorsed on this forum over the years and if I read back, I'd slap myself silly.

Most of his endorsed products make sense. Ecopur yup. bypass oils been around forever, I heard him and bruce from PP talking about this. Bruce prefers spinner, Kevin explained why he endorses eco..... just preference. flow below, we'll you can spec them on the new Cascadia so......

    I question the air tabs.

None the less, people want to be critical because they think they know more than him. Maybe they do but you aren't on the air trying to help the average owner operator make more money.. so what if it's more money to buy his products, we owner operators are being weeded out by fleets by the swarms because fleets manage their numbers better. It's time we learn a buy more.

I can sum the course up easy. Understand how to run a business. Trucking is a business.

Get your finances in order first. Reduce your debt before trying to take on a business.

Lease purchases are a very bad idea. Don't do it!!

Be willing to do the hard work and be responsible.

PS. One more thing. A lot of his material is plagiarized from overdrive magazines business companion that was put out.

Kevin likes to copy other people's work and act like its his.

Don't go to his seminars. Pure rip off and waste of money.

    I'm with you, @rollin coal -

The fleet air filter produced .4 mpg - but any foam filter would work.

The bypass filter has saved me a bunch, but it's a 'Filtration Solutions FS2500' - cheaper filters and less waste when changing oil.

Samples - $10 each from Schaffer where I buy my oil.

I view him the same as religion - it's a necessary moral handbook for the masses, if you don't know any better how to be a good person - it's great.

If you do your own research you'll do just fine - but if you want to be spoonfed then you're going to munch on some nuggets from time to time.
