Hey folks, if you dont like driving nights then leave reefer and go dry van. I did 6 years reefer and dont want to ever do it again. I drive during the day and sleep at night pulling van.

CRE, like SWIFT, is where you go if you're:

    1. Too STUPID to research trucking companies before you work there, OR...

    2. You have a messed up driving record and have no other options.

I have NEVER talked to a former CRE driver who had anything but bad to say about it. The guys I've talked to who think it's ok, think 30 CPM is "good money." For an OTR job.

If you've made some bad life decisions, then CRE/SWIFT/Werner may be your best options. I'm cool with that. Do your time, pay your dues, better things will come if you stick with it and do the right thing. At least they gave you a shot. Sometimes, that's the best you're gonna do.

If you have a decent driving/criminal history, right out of school, you can do a LOT, LOT better. Go take a student loan for $5k for trucking school. You'll pay it back in a year and meanwhile be making decent money.

I understand O/Os (Who OWN their own truck, NOT lease it) can do well in these companies. I've also heard a few guys do well who were really amazing drivers (few/zero mistakes, ALWAYS on time, etc).

The average rookie I have heard NOTHING but bad.

And as for CRE, I would work for them before SWIFT, but I'd chose Werner over either. -Based on conversations with drivers.

I am scheduled to start Phase 1 next Monday in Salt Lake City - Viet Nam Era vet - keep me posted how it goes, I thought putting in the 6 to 9 months would be ok to get off the ground in a new career....

You could probably do better than that at Carolina Cargo.

I've seen young men turn into old men in less than 2 years, running the grave yard shift
    ( line hauls)
    ... Sure they can turn 100 k
    .... Hard on the health
Honestly I hate to see outfits like this CR ENGLAND in business and on our highways, knowing full well how dangerous these companies operate and what measures they are getting away with is very disturbing to say the least
