Obviously, the train was there to transfer the cars from the car hauler onto the train.

If the 30 minutes break wasn't mandatory he wouldn't had been taking a break at the tracks.

Eventho I was being ironic with my comment(next time I'll make sure to TURN THE SWITCHER ON), let me tell you that this accident (from the video) it's way different from the one you have used as an example... both are a tragic situation , but comparing an Amtrak train(with 12 cars) vs a cargo train (90+cars) aren't the same thing...

There should be phone numbers on the signs at railroad crossings that you can call to let the rr dispatchers know you are stuck. I don't know how long the truck was stuck there but 911 works too. Obviously a train can't stop very fast and depending on how close the train was when he got stuck is obviously a factor. Just makes you wonder what all could have been done to avoid this accident. A shame.

That rail crossing has a control box with in 25-50 feet of the crossing with the phone number of the RR and the crossing location on it. They are easy to spot as they are the size of a phine booth or bigger. But this truck wasnt stuck. He was just a DUMD*** and stayed stopped for the red light because of the criss traffic instead of puting that #### thing in gear and hauling butt out of there.

He was an idiot for being stuck across the tracks at an intersection like that in the first place! Always stop BEFORE THE TRACKS,especially in a CMV.
Also lately a lot of these collisions are involving Norfolk Southern trains. Coincidence? Who knows.
