The Werner program isnt bad for trainers or teams, you can pay a truck off in a year or two. Like actually pay it off and have the title in hand. So its definitely not CR England or Prime.

I will make this clear as I can. Dont do it......PERIOD!

Dont fall for lunch truck stop lunch counter advice. I know plenty of drivers who are at Werner that make good money and dont have to fall for the LP scams. Like I said in many of my posts....have the carrier send you a copy of the LP contract in advance so you can review it. They wont!!! Take a guess why?

Ask them if your application checks out will they send you a current copy of the LP agreement and lease. Heck....you showed your hand....let them show theirs. Before you go down the LP road you owe it to yourself, and your family, to fully and diligently check out what you are going to get into!! What are the liabilities etc etc. Dont assume you know how to read a contract fully because you don't....and neither do I. Even today I would have a contract checked by a transportation/trucking attorney or OOIDA. OOIDA probably already reviewed many of these contracts from the carriers and can sit down and talk with you.

LP is a really bad idea. Its just as bad as Pay Day loans or Title Loans on your car. But.....its your right to make your own decisions. If you do make a decision.....make a decision that is well thought and investigated. This does not mean listening to brain washing recruiters on the phone or on trucking forums. Many drivers are recruiting ninjas and are hunting referral bonuses. Only you can do the homework. And if you do it...do it the right way.

You can cite carrier programs until the cows come home. These are programs that benifit the carrier....not you. Never forget that. Do some real homework.

PS. There is nothing wrong with being a company driver. If you are at the right company you can make great money and have excellent benefits.

If Werner is the only company you have driven for do yourself a favor and try another company. I drove for them for a couple months and they were AWFUL !!!! No respect for your time or your life.

Yep. In the last two months Werner dispatch in the 48 state division has basically lost its mind. They are completely unable to do their jobs properly.

A trainer friend of mine just quit over it. And Im ready to quit myself because my dispatchers in the 48 state division are delusional. And management simply refuses to believe how poorly they behave. Life has been a living hell for the last 2 months.

Sometimes I have to work 14 hour days, 7 days a week. The delays and the complete disorganization means I have to wait off the clock, and sometimes end up working more than 24 hours straight. I keep telling them they cant do things like wake me up at 8 am and then give me loads at 10 PM. Or wake me up at 5pm and not give me a load until 5am.

Dispatch not only hasnt tried to fix the problem, they wont even admit it exists.

Werner was actually doing really well, but once 2017 hit... the company has been a complete wreck. Lower management has completely stopped holding dispatch accountable in ANY way. Its been absolutely unbearable over the last 2 months.

Recently things have been pretty well for me at Werner. Two weeks ago I got a 2400 mile load with a 400 mile deadhead. Last week I got a 2800 mile load out of San Diego, CA to Dunn, NC to Simpsonville, SC. This week I just delivered a load from Lithia Springs, GA to San Diego, CA which was 2100 miles I believe and it had 240 miles deadhead from Chester, SC to Lithia Springs. Just got assigned an 1500 mile run yesterday to get me home. If I can make that 1500 before the end of Tuesday that's going to be a 3600 mile week. I have Saturday Night, Sunday, Monday, and I think until 2pm CST Tuesday to get there to get the load on this week's pay so at 650 miles a day I should be able to do it. I also recently got a 5cpm pay raise. My fleet manager is awesome as well.

What do you mean they wake you up? When I ran 48 states and reefer, they would wait all day to assign me a load sometimes but I'd be getting as much sleep as I could while I waited. I'd usually get assigned a load at 8pm or so and have to drive through the night but I had sleep while I waited. Just set your Qualcomm to use its own speaker instead of the truck speaker, unmount it from its little mount thing, stretch it to your bunk and set it down close to your head. Turn the volume all the way up and go to sleep. Your alarm will be " *DING* A NEW IMPORTANT MESSAGE HAS ARRIVED." Works for me every time. Try flatbed man, you get a ton of miles, you get exercise, and you get a little more respect on the road.

Dude, you are in the cross country flatbed division, you cant come in here talking about the 48 state solo division when you are in a completely different part of the company.

The solo 48 state division is a wreck. They gave me a load to pick up a team member and go to the team division, and they couldnt even get that right.

When I wouldnt split the load, the morons blocked my fuel card. Im just doing what I was told and trying to pick up a team driver. Its not like I was going out of route, the driver was on the route.

The 48 state division is out of their minds lately. Absolutely bonkers.

First of all, there is no cross-country flatbed account. It's solo 48 states just like van. But yes it's a different ball game because there aren't many flatbed drivers in Werner so we don't split loads at all. Second, it's not the whole division having problems. Your fleet manager has apparently taken a turn for the worse. I'd put in a request for a new one. Honestly though, van is overflowing with drivers so the quality of that account is degrading. You should look into the TCU accounts. There is a lot more to Werner than short haul van loads.
