Mercer orientation

you are totally confusing agents and brokers, but thats understandable since many in this thread also interchange the terms. agents typically work on 7 percent and work with a carrier, a broker typically takes far more than 7 percent. they also have overhead, probably more than most realize.
but lets use a 1000 dollar load , with an agent getting 7 percent and truck getting 75 per cent. now dont forget that 200 of that 1000 is fuel surcharge , leaving 800 linehaul, so the agent gets 56 dollars for that load and the truck gets 800 650 + 200 dollar fuel surcharge. say that is dont exactly the same on 5 trucks in one day, 5 trucks get 800 and the agent gets a total of 280.00. they keep track of 5 loads and 5 drivers, 5 different loads of freight , while the driver keeps track of one.

doesnt sound as sweet does it? but what dez trucking is really speaking of is this, if you agree to a rate for certain amount of dollars , why would you be concerned what anyone else is making?? if you dont like the rate, dont take it. to do anything else is a waste of time. thats what he means, worry more about the workings of your truck than what everyone else is doing. i have been on both ends , and there is far more effort and expense in acquiring loads than most realize. if you broker, let us know how it does work out, dont forget that 75,000 dollar bond you pay for either

 

Dont forget that the vast majority of Mercer loads come from other brokers and especially other trucking companies! Everyone gets their take before the driver.
I will put it in these simple terms. Many people take a bite of the sandwich before it even gets to the owner operator. The owner operator are left with the crust.

 

If you say so. I've pulled two brokered loads this year. One paid 650 bucks on 100 miles. The other was a got to get home load for over 2 a mile. 2 loads from jan 1st to june isn't anywhere close to 'the vast majority'.

 

What Koolaide are you slurping!!! Literally all the loads are re brokered. Wonder why even well seasoned experienced owner operators cut bait and run within 3-6 months? Duh.

Dude, you're something else. I personally don't care where the loads come from or who gets a piece as long as I'm happy with the piece I'm getting. Get your own numbers so you can show Mercer & the rest of us how "real" owner ops do it. I'm sure you've got a long list of direct customers just waiting on you to call them.

 

Ours not even the fact that he is non stop whining and #####ing. Its that his claims are no where near accurate. I want kidding, literally 2 loads I've pulled this year have been brokered. Its not that hard to know who is a direct customer ahs who is a brokered customer.
