Just curious if any of you clean out your DPF yourself? If so do you use a pressure washer? Any advice would be great! Thanks

Volvo
D-16, Volvo, took dpf apart and soaked in simple green and rinsed. May take several cleanings to get it clean. 50K miles since removal and cleaning, and no issues. Be sure to get new gaskets and clamps to put the filter back together.double yellow and Montanajon Thank this. -
watched a guy blow one out with a tire bead seater once.

Really!! I guess they have never seen how one is actually cleaned in a blast type furnace..
We buy a new one...have the original cleaned and keep it for the next service interval.....every 250k it gets swapped out and I hope they know the trucks ECM needs updated each time the filter is cleaned..At least on a Cummins.Jazz1 and Socal Xpress Thank this. -
Better not breath that crap in, you'll be visiting an undertaker.
Oldironfan, bzinger, EZ Money and 1 other person Thank this. -
It needs to be professionally cleaned, just blowing it out with air nozzle you can't properly clean it. You have to measure before/after restriction and possibly bake it as well.
Entire proper process here...
Oldironfan and bzinger Thank this. -
Take dpf off, throw in trash can, remove all the other emissions crap off there and throw in trash too.
Brickwall, Oldironfan, 6rider and 9 others Thank this. -
Just blowing it out will put poisons in the environment.
Oldironfan and slow.rider Thank this.
