The Tesla truck is a pure battery vehicle. I am talking about a hybrid. A hybrid would weigh a lot less than a pure battery vehicle because it has a generator and some batteries instead of a gigantic battery pack.

Funny thing about "California rules". Most outside carriers have virtually their entire fleet outfitted with "skirts". However I seem to notice that at least one of the large Southern California grocers (I think Vons?), very few of their trailers have skirts. How does that happen?

For the first time in my life, I saw a tanker with trailer skirts......a tanker!:eek::eek:

I saw a flatbed with them on last summer. What is this world coming to?

The Most Important Thing We Don't Know About Tesla's New Semi

"It’s not easy to find out how much the Tesla Semi weighs, but it’s possible to calculate it given the stats included in Tesla’s announcement and some complicated math. Real Engineering runs through the calculations and comes up with a value of 17,400 pounds for the empty weight of the truck."

And the point is energy density.
Also according to the article, the longer range, the heavier the battery. Its 890 miles across Texas. Do the math and figure it’s a 10 hour recharge at 500 miles.
That load of strawberries you picked up in Watsonville ain’t got time for sitting around.

Wrench tells me the electric APU's don't cool for beans, and are basically garbage. How going get an entire reefer frozen?

I'm waiting for some engineering genius to realize that if they put generators on tandem axles, they can power an electric reefer quite nicely when it's rolling. When the truck stops rolling, the diesel engine takes over.

Yes, it's a little more work for the tractor engine, but most diesel reefers already have an electric power connection to run the reefer by plugging it in.
