    Closest terminal to my house is Deland. Hoping I’m not kept close to there. If I wanted to stay close to home all the time I wouldn’t be running OTR.

    My average length of load is over 800 miles. If you are OTR, you won't be spending a lot of time on short loads near the house.

    I had to look in the terminal book to see where Deland is. I've never been there. I have been into Florida a few times, heading to the Ft. Pierce, Kissimmee, Tampa areas, but it is uncommon. I can't say how much time you will spend in Florida, but I doubt you will be stuck there - if they needed drivers for regional work, they would hire for regional work, since it pays less per mile to the driver.

    I’m considering having them route me to Deland for hometime, parking the truck there and just commuting home from there. It would be cheaper than paying for a place to park the truck in my hometown. Taking it to the house has never been an option.

    That's what I do, but I only live about 50 miles from my terminal.

    Your a smart guy!! I enjoyed your thread. I’m experienced as well.
    Quick question... can you go off the beaten path and find a real laundrymat at Crete/Shaffer? Take 2/3 hours to do laundry?
    I’m a runner as well and not sure if Crete or Shaffer allows that. Thanks in advance.
