upsizer US 59 is a fine road for running north out of Houston to points east. It's four lanes all the way to 20 and due to the truck traffic the lights are timed accordingly, pay attention though, it does exit off of itself in about three places but you really have to try to not notice the oversize signs. I-10 through Louisiana on the other hand, well I'm sure you know, no explanation needed. Some guys run I-45 up to Dallas and then east, they can have fun with that.

^ 10-4. Thanks. The terminal was agreeable to a new fuel stop, so I'm in business. Should get loaded early, too. I'm waiting on two pallets to come out of production ...
Addendum: I'll definitely do 59 - 79 - 20 until I hear they've finished up the I-10 road work around Houston. I averaged 60 mph along the route and only added 20 miles to the trip.Last edited: Jan 1, 2009

Looks like you made it, seeing as how we just had dinner at the Huddle House next to the Pilot in Corbin, KY

I had fun; glad to finally meet somebody from this board in real life. Evertruckerr, you're next!
BTW, the wifi here sucks. Big-time. I think that whoever is running it for them needs to figure out what DNS is and apply some energy to getting it for their hotspots.jdrentzjr Thanks this. -
I enjoyed our time at dinner as well! Thanks for the company.
I too am looking forward to meeting more of the posters on this board. I think we've become our own little community.
BTW, I updated my Avatar so that everyone has an idea as to what I look like, and my signuture line has a picture of my trk. (Maroon International #3205). So, if you see me, say hi!
A happy and prosperous New Year to all!Last edited: Dec 31, 2008

I thought it was just a red cornbinder

nice truck jdrentzjr. Must have a lot of space in her.
Hunter -
Yes it does have more space than the Centry Class. However, it does lack the storeage space of the Centry Class, as much of the overhead space in the sleeper is just open space.
Call it a Cornbinder if you will, unlike a Centry Class, it's still a great deal!

ouch. just ouch.
if it makes you guys feel any better most of you are having a better winter than i had last year. if you get through the ole walcott shoot me a pm and maybe we can meet up for dinner. this is actually our busy season, so its a slim chance, but hey, weve got a hooter's here lol.
once shippers get tired of dealing with j.b. hunt regardless of how cheap theyll run something, freight will get back to normal. -
If you have the money for a fancy dish, get the Vuecube. It's a funky looking thing that mounts to the truck, kinda like a 3-D diamond. But it has an automatic search for the satellite(while parked). It's a dish only, not a receiver, you have to supply a receiver. But it's compatible with both Dish and Direct-tv. So it'll work with a cheapy from W-mart, or an extra box from home.
My year ended up much like I expected. Got on the road, and hauled a little 525 mi run to Hickory, NC. Very cool people. Got there 1 3/4 hrs early, took me right in and had me out in 30 minutes. Since I delivered at 1400 on New Years Eve, I expected to sit until Friday. To my surprise, I only had to wait for 4 hours for a load offer that was suppose to be ready before Christmas. But when I called the customer(as advised on the load comments) they weren't open for the holiday...So I got as close as I could, and still have to wait until Friday. It's not a bad load. Catawba SC to Dallas. Del's Monday. Which is fine, my truck is overdue for a 'B' and I still have 2 drive tires that are leaking. This load will give me a chance to get both done. I figure it's cheaper for the company shops to do the tire work, than the company paying the road service guy, so I'll keep airing them up until I get by a shop.
My '08 year to date ended up better than the expectations I had a few months ago. I ended up with 121405 paid miles. 127526 hub miles. (that's 4.8% difference. Not a bad difference in miles. Most companies that pay short route or HHG miles are in the 10-15% neighborhood. So Crete's practical route is the most fair way I've ever been paid) I am not overjoyed at the total miles, but given the way freight and the economy are right now, it could've been much worse. Let's hope '09 is a better year for all of us.
Happy New Year!~~!
!~~!
8it Thanks this. -
I left home 12/27, and in six days I've run 2872 miles.
Through the end of Nov. I've run 136,143 paid miles. Considering I ran 151,000 paid miles last year, I will probably finish this year short of that mark.
However, since I changed the pay plan I'm on in April of this year, and the deadhead pay was increased, I will still gross more in generated revenue. Due to the high cost of fuel for most of the year it remains to be seen how my NET INCOME will be affected.
When I get a day of down time I think I will start a new thread in the O/O section that shows my acctual numbers as an O/O. I already have them posted elsewhere, but since I only view those sites once a month to update, I think I'd like to streamline.
Goodnight Mary Ellen!
