We're not talking about the same thing if you think I am describing perpetual motion.

Perhaps I was unclear about something?

Everyone is thinking about this all wrong.
Next move, 53ft of solar panels on the roof of trailer. You have to pull over and plug in. If its raining and no sun. And only run in the sun.
    Joking aside..
I do think and have always though. We had 10 drums going round and round. Why not take energy from everyone of them? We have trains doing it now. Yes Trains taking that energy, and putting it to use.
IF you take 10 motors gear them right. The wind would almost make the Energy needed.
But I see Natural gas being the next big deal. yes Ca will be making anyone in that state. Drink DEF, and every living thing. It may well FART, that FART will keep causing the Law makers to get Dumber. But there nose is so far up the other's butts. Don't know if they know a FART from A shart..

I asked my reefer mechanic about this the other day. He works officially for thermo king but services and repairs both makes.
He says thermo king will not have dpf or def. The new engines are currently certified to tier 4 emissions and are also certified for California "forever". He also said it is an option to install a dpf, but that's all it is, an option, designed for older units that will not be CARB certified any longer and they need it to be Cali compliant. He also said nobody buys them. Easy enough avoiding California.

    I run California a lot

I'm constantly seeing crappy old grandfathered trucks, gliders ,and other complete pos trucks pulling trailers without the skirts or diffusers underneath

how do some companies get away with this ?

Right now there are two fitzgerald gliders right next to me in Lodi . no trailer skirts and they've been idling for about 9 hrs now

The most atrocious cropduster / smoke generator trucks I've ever seen in real life have been around the dockyards in southern CA.
