I've worked for Schneider for 1.5 years and I have my complaints like anyone else. If I get sent to the NE, I expect my check to be $300 less than usual that week(take home).
The new bonus program is BS because it is 100% unachievable without getting a high-set standard MPG(mine is 7.55). Try getting that with 45k+ loads using their genious routing system(out of route is 0mpg).
It's bad enough with these turned down engines and 63mph speed, but what's worse is they dock your MPG for every overspeed violation. Yes, even though you could floor it, you'll still not go over 63 on flat ground, but somehow that translates to MPG to them.
Drivers whose trucks "belong" east of the Mountain time zone will not be dispatched to the west excluding dedicated and teams. Every truck has a home terminal.
The most mileage I've turned in a month is 9,500. This is mostly due to a trend of live load or unloads, and I've had 1 dispatch over 1,000mi in the past 6 months.
HHG miles are obselete and there is no reason any trucking company should pay that anymore, especially with the Trump tax breaks.
I'm going to be moving on soon. I just have to line up my ducks before I take that shot.

You're spot on about the HHG calculation. In a world where your phone can place you within 10 feet of where you are, this is just a straight up rip off.
stevep1977 and ethos Thank this. -

The worst Schneider loads are the Poland springs loads out of Maine. The one I always got was Kingfield, ME to Schenectady, NY. HHG miles 330, actual miles 390. That's almost 20% "out of route" miles. First hour and a half of driving was unpaid (all back roads ME driving).
Even worse was Poland Springs, ME to Schenectady. 330 actual miles, 270 paid miles. That's at least 25% unpaid miles.gentleroger Thanks this. -
Or when you deliver to one of the boroughs of NYC and then they send you somewhere upstate to pick up near Newburgh. They pay you to drive a straight line through the city maybe 70 miles when you have to drive 130 all the way around the legal truck route. -
I absolutely hated that HHG crap Schneider kept pulling. Especially when the idiot dispatchers at the Akron terminal kept insisting I log hhg miles, when it’s supposed to be actual miles.

Schneider is nothing special, never has been even back in the early 90's when I worked as a OTR driver, then a dedicated driver. Nothing bad, nothing great your just a number and you get a good fleet manager which I had a couple they get you home when you want for the most part. Get a bad one, and they probably are overwhelmed with drivers they can't keep track.

What about SWIFT? I keep seeing drivers pretty happy with them. Making good money. Surely, can't be better than SNI tho?
