Ok, here's how to handle it. Are there witnesses to the tape measure hitting it? If not, that's great. Then, do like a trucker who backs into someone at a truck stop and throw your hands up at the bridge in a "what's your problem, bridge?" Fashion.

I worked for a company that loved to send me to Jersey. Sent me to a customer w/o directions, a few miles from the GW, and a phone number that was only answered by someone who only spoke spanish. (This was before Google Maps, and I didn't have a detailed paper map for this specific area). When I asked exactly how they expected me to find this place, their response was "call a cop"...like the local LEOs have time to give directions...

Thank you Mr. Engvall, are you and the other 3 doing another Blue Collar comedy tour?

Doesn’t look like he’s pulling a box if that’s what you mean.

No. I was referring to the presumed truck-configured gps that apparently wasn't concerned about a low bridge

    OR

The op wasn't using the gps. Either way, kind of ironic.

    Hm.

    #### you for the details. I was spending half the night wondering if I should have yelled BS on those tape measures. You know? You get about maybe 6 feet out of them and BEND! How you gonna reach 13 feet up? Maybe I got it all wrong and I probably did. But I thought about this carefully.

    Magnetic tip. Outstanding.

In my time we used the CB antennas at 13.5 any time they sang you aint getting in any further. I tried the US11 I think Arch bridge at Carlisle under the railroad once. In the middle. But nope. No fittie.

It's good to be humbled and brought low to feel dumb. Once in a while.

Walk up the embankment to the top of the bridge and measure down to the ground. Pretty sure the measurement will be the same.

Well done - the screen thingy on the dash is but an ornament. In place for 5 months now, but still just an amusing 'thing'. I still rely on the old methods - though in this case I trusted directions from receiver ALONE, without further investigation - a fault I'll admit.
