To make sure you're not running "off-road" diesel?Farmerbob1 Thanks this.
-
Correct.
It is legal to run off road (red) diesel in the refer though (cheaper because no road fuel/IFTA taxes). So they keep the hoses short enough that you can't fuel the refer tank with the road diesel hoses, and the red diesel can't easily be put in the tractor. Assuming of course the fuel stops still have red diesel....
A properly built fuel stop will have Road Diesel where the truck parks and a separate pump back by the refer. Kinda a rarity now. -

if that had that today that reefer pump would last 2 hours before it was run overWildTiger1990, Farmerbob1 and 06driver Thank this. -
I used to pull reefers that had the tank mounted under the unit. Had to climb up there and open the doors to fuel the reefer. I don't think the average truck stop diesel hose would reach these days.
Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -
Quite possibly it could come down to weight distribution cause you''ve got your fridge motor plus the trucks fuel tanks then you'd have your reefers fuel tanks. I didn't have a big issue having to pull forward or i'd make sure i'd fuel up in a spot where it wasn't a big hassle.

By gawd I think you got it ..safety and weight distribution is right on the money IMO...funny that I've never really thought about it before..Auctioneer and SteveScott Thank this.

Waiting to pull up for reefer fuel doesn't bother me, and honestly I probably dont pull up far enough for the guy behind to get reefer fuel either. If I would do that, my hood would be ripped off by guys trying to turn out of these tight ### truck stops. What pisses me off is when guys dont pull up far enough to even let me fuel my tractor....JTAN and Farmerbob1 Thank this.
