Stay with Werner for at least 1 year and don't be a bad boy on the road. With 1 year experience you can find much better work than Western Express.

I have worked for 4 companies in 4 months and not because I jump but because of bad luck. Stay with one and get your time in. It will be easier in the future to find better jobs.

    So you know,
    1. Werner during training I was in an accident and Terminated.
    2. MCLANE for two weeks and had me running illegal so I quit (19 hr shift)
    3. New Penn for 8 weeks, hourly union job wasn’t paying the bills.
    4. Now with Western Express.

Finished orientation with some BS. I was hired as a driver but because I drove LTL they wanted me to go through a training class??? Finished that and got a truck. Took 10 days and only got paid for 3 days or load securement training. They give you a room and three meals a day.

Update on my first real Check in a week.

    CT-Driver860 and bryan21384 Thank this.

I currently drive for western. Worse decision of my career they constantly give me loads with short miles and long detention hours without paying my detention cause they make the hoops impossible to jump through to prove detention hours. I only get 25 for a tarp fee. They claimed they could not verify my experience but they never made a call to try. So they sent me out with a trainer that learned more from me in 2 weeks then he did in his whole 6mo career as a driver before I met him. I have 4 years experience with a year off when I cam to western. I was in the same position as you I had a few tickets too many they where the only company that would hire me quickly. My pay average is about 800 weekly and I stay out alot. I've been home 6 days in the 8mo that I have been here. I here from the guys in the NE region that they garrentee 900 a week for 1100 miles or 9 loads everything after that pays 50c I'm not sure about the van divisions. The predetermined fuel stops is a major pain in the ###. if you have a heavy load and have to short fuel say every 200mi you have to find a pilot or fj send a fuel request to approve your card and that can take up to an hour. Even longer if you drive day times and have to deal with a overcrowded swithboard. Got plenty more to say about them mostly bad but some good if you want to know anything else just ask.

I work the Northeast Division and Flatbed is $900 for 1500 miles or 5 loads and .50 cpm after, Van is $800 for 1800 miles or 5 loads and .50 cpm after. If you don’t make the 5 loads or 1500/1800 miles you get like .36 cpm. My first week I only worked 2 days and drove 630 miles (Wednesday/Thurs) Friday I was stuck with a load that couldn’t be delivered until Monday but went towards next weeks checks. 2nd week I got like 2678 miles equaled $1,239.00 dollars before taxes (also includes scales cost). Next week switching over to flatbed so I will give another update then.

I do not go home every weekend even though I have the option so I get more miles then someone that does. My DM for Van was nice and kept me running. New Dm is unknown.

I pay $79 ish for medical per week for family of 4. Not the best medical but could be worse.

First week I did let them talk me into Van because I listened orientation. I immediately said I want flatbed (personnel preference) so they had me haul loads from Bethlehem, PA terminal to Nashville terminal for a flatbed truck. I get to Nashville and the seating department say there is a truck waiting for me in Bethlehem, haha. I drive back to Bethlehem and the truck isn’t there. I talked to new DM and he says I don’t know why they told you that but I have a truck for you when you get back from vacation (pre payed family vacation before I started).

Wouldn’t bother switching from mega carrier to mega carrier. Find a mid size or small fleet to run for less restrictive better trucks more money.
