Well, I've about had it with this company. After spending 3.5 days in NJ in early April and another two days in B'ville, Pa. about two weeks ago these a##holes want to send me back to NJ on my load out of the house. They say it's the only load they have. Bullcrap. I picked the load up this morning and I am now back at the house deciding if I want to run it or take it up to Columbus and tcall it and turn in my truck. Funny thing is dispatch can't figure out why I'm pissed. It is a 630 miler, which wouldn't be bad if I knew there was a load waiting for me when Igot empty, but they don't look at how long you might have to wait before your next load. 630 miles spread out over 3-4 days is hardly productive.
To be honest I am surprised I haven't been contacted by my terminal manager. The conversation this morning between myself and dispatch was hardly what you would call cordial and more nearly bordered on the unacceptable.

LOL, I know, he comes into this forum every couple months to stir up things. He says the same thing in other threads as well. Anyway DRIVE SAFE and have a good weekend.
-
I hear ya, the NE sux! I wish you luck.
-
Yea, he's taking over for me in my old position....I use to be the one stirring up the 'you-know-what' around here.

Just after I sent this, I had to come back and edit it because they beeped me with a 'I regret to inform you all' msg about all the Friday freight being gone, and most of the Saturday loads are dispatched, and that it could quite possibly be Monday before a good number of us get a load out of here....Wow... I went from hero to zero in one load. Ahhhhhhhh, crap. Looks like I may need to head to the motel and spend a weekend sitting on my hairy butt.
(sorry, I know it may be dinner time for some of you...didn't mean to ruin your meal with that graphic image)

I recommend not wasting any of your time responding to posts made by "RickG"
That being said, i'm still very happy after 2 years at Crete. -
Because they are one of the biggest companies out there. Maybe you get treated correctly but I would be willing to bet my paycheck the majority of there drivers are not.
-
Why am I a troll? I think that Crete is a big company that has a lot of turnover, sitting, and unpaid work time like most of them. I have enjoyed reading evertruckers posts and have not seen them in a while. Kind of makes me wonder.
-
Were you not the same knighton5 who used to work for Knight? If I remember, you had nothing but good things to say about them. What happened?
-
Maybe after you deliver they'll route you to Lincoln for a "talking to". You'll get all those miles and be in a good freight area.
I'm 180 miles from my consignee, a Walmart with an anytime delivery. I'll be there tomorrow afternoon, I put in about 220 miles today. I just don't feel like running to get a "no freight" message. -
All the big companies are like that, very true. Some people make it work, some do not. If you aren't happy don't talk about it here unless you don't mind being labeled a "troll" A few years ago when I was looking into Crete I talked to a handful of old timers and they all said the same thing "compared to yesteryear, Crete didn't give a flip about their drivers" and also they said it was getting increasingly hard to get "quality" time out of the truck at home. Trucking is a good life BUT it sure doesn't have to be your ONLY life. Schneider, Werner, Crete, Swift, JB Hunt, who the heck wants to spend their life on the road ? Judging by the actions and attitudes of most drivers nowadays, not to many do.
