So I bought a new KWT660 glider from D&B out of Kentucky. I got the truck in late march, and so far I've had that truck in the shop more than I have had it on the road. I've had an oil leak come from the engine brake, my A/C kept acting up, I had water leak into the fuse panel and mess up a few fuses. Its currently back in the shop for a light control module. My turn signals were not working on the trailer and clearance lights on the front were not working either. I'm just curious has anyone else has this issue here lately? And is their anything else I can do other than take it too Kenworth just so they can have it for a week or two for repairs. This is hurting my business.

sounds like the glider place wasn't very reputable to take a look at their background if they had any reports to the BBB??
places like Fitzgerald stand behind their work..
is this the famous D&B Kustoms the brothers that have quality partnered withc Quality Carrierseverything worked out with their lease purchase or should I say how they agreed to help Quality get drivers by making their trucks available to potential contractors with only quality... are now doing more than peterbilts going to Kenworth now customizing them??
I do remember reading about them and all the trucking magazines D&B Kustoms I think it is making all these peterbilts at the time about 10 years ago maybe eight years ago and you can go to Quality carriers with it..
or maybe I'm thinking of a different company.. -
Nahh it was this company out of Kentucky. They just keep telling me to take it to a Kenworth dealer for the chassis issues, and if it has engine issues too take it to cummins. The chassis is new from the Chillicothe OH factory, and the Motor is rebuilt strictly from Cummins.

I originally had placed an order for Fitzgerald but they had issues and had so many trucks on order. I still talk to the salesman that had too my order originally and he left the company because of some fishy mess with the government. -
Basically all they did was put the rebuilt engine and transmission into the truck. The engine and transmission was never rebuilt from the glider company.

Far as I'm concerned that is all just new truck bugs that have to be ironed out. That can happen to any new truck, glider has nothing to do with it. They are only as good as the people putting the trucks together. That goes for anything.
You could buy a 91 FLD used and not have a stitch of trouble with it for years . Same goes for a new truck. Or complete opposite of that scenario. Luck of the draw..
Nothing to see here.Josey Wales, mitmaks, Cw5110 and 3 others Thank this. -
Unless its an issue with hose routing, harness routing etc you can't really blame the glider manufacturer for it. They really don't have any obligation to fulfill anything beyond rectifying issues related to the install. Cummins did the engine rebuild, Kenworth did the chassis. All the glider company did was install the completed engine under the hood.
Josey Wales and spsauerland Thank this. -
Also, Fitzgerald gliders are garbage. Their in house cheap after market part rebuilds routinely blow up before 200k.thaistick Thanks this. -
