Here Here. I haul dry van now and will NEVER go back to haling reefer loads. Don't miss standing in 5 inches of mud and cow crap hooking up a trailer at a slaughter house/beef processing plant.

Most people can't imagine what happens when economy falls down really dip.
Car parts haulers out because nobody has money to buy car.
Same with furniture and almost all dry freight except toilet paper.
But people will never stop eat. Oh they can stop using toilet paper as well but not quit eat.

Here on the west coast I'm loving reefer. I don't do fresh produce and only things that require cooling and rarely do a frozen load. My trailer is almost a year old, and I've only done one wash out, and just use a blower the rest of the time. There is always a reefer load in my area that needs hauling, and it pays at least 20% more than a dry van load.

I guess it all depends on where you're at and what's available in your area. I wouldn't ever haul meat or ice cream. Too much of a hassle.

That's when your van drivers and flatbed drivers ALL come over to the refer side. So don't think refer is immune to recessions just because people gotta eat. Truckers do too.

When I hang up my keys and stop pulling reefer, I am gonna start a rock band called Continuous Mode. Money for nothing and your chicks for free baby!!

Not necessarily. There are those who will refuse to migrate because the marginal amount of additional work reefer loads require. I mean, ####, man, you know the type of folks I'm talking about. They won't transition because then they'd actually have to get out of the cab to check their temps. The horror!

It might not even be your fault either. It could be rejected because of 1 illiterate at the shipper.

“Sorry, can’t take it. We ordered MINT chocolate chip ice cream”.

####... what meat processors did you go too with #### 5 inches deep where the loaded trailers where at?
Please let me know so I don't eat that meat.
