You will sit with that reefer half the day and into the night before unloading it towards morning by hand. When you know flatbeds load in 15 minutes and tarped etc in a hour and off you go you go running to flatbed.

Americold in Salinas CA had us sit 84 hours in front of their two corner docks waiting to load once. Never again. Total waste of team driver resources for about a 1200 mile run. That was the first week we made no money.

More especially when they drag something out of a snowbank and you have to tarp it snow and all, then unload it and set it in a mudhole on the other end. lol

Just top off the reefer every time you fuel. You will see the fuel tank on the side of the trailer. Just check the reefer temp when you stop. The green light means the system THINKS everything is operating normally. An orange light means an alarm got thrown. Stop and check the alarm, notify dispatch. You can see the light from your driver side mirror.

My unit you turn unit on with a black button.

The up and down arrows adjust them then save the new temp setting with the equals button. Thats how my unit works.

Stop/start and continuous settings are pretty self explanatory. Just leave it continuous so you know if someone turned it off. It happens. People dont like parking next to reefers.

If you park in an urban area park away from residental zones. You will generate noise complaints. A lot of new drivers on my fleet learn that one the hard way.

You can make good money pulling reefers if you get on with a good outfit. Driving over night is a lot of fun, in my opinion. Empty roads, closed weigh stations, empty bathrooms. No one ever sees you. Over night drivers tend to be more courteous than all that day time nonsense. Probably because its casual, low traffic, peaceful. Parking available almost anywhere when you run out of time in the morning.

I would love to try flatbedding but I would miss out on some of the best drive times.. 9PM-7AM.
